So I won't try yet. However I'm not optimistic about the voting. For example, look at my favorite, 14. Do you think Dan Lodboa can beat out Riley Nash? Not I, but for what he did for CU hockey, there is no comparison. Start up the obligatory, this is the favorite not the best or most significant, talk. I know, I guess it's why I don't like fan voting, myself included.

According to a mass email from Mike Schafer this morning, John Hughes, Bruce Pattison, and Murray Death (now Deathe) were late additions to the list.

Cornell's two-time All-Americans were: Brian Cornell, Ken Dryden (three-time), Doug Ferguson, Doug Murray, Lance Nethery, Joe Nieuwendyk, Bruce Pattison, and Dan Ratushny. Unfortunately, Murray and Nethery both wore number 6.

Curious why they didn't simply list everyone. I would have voted for some hard working 4 year lettermen who didn't make the list who I admired during my Cornell days (Phil Nobel, Stephane Gauvin, Karl Williams, Marc Deschamps). I doubt that it would change the end results. In any event, it was fun to go through the voting process!

Are we surprised? The people doing the bidding and knowing to go on the Cornell Athletics page are people who have been watching, for the most part, only the last 7-10 years of the team.

It seems pretty dumb to me that they're only going to update the page with leading bids every two days (until the last day, when they'll conduct bidding by e-mail). They'll probably have a dozen $150 bids on each jersey in the first two days, when they could have had bidding up to $200 or more by updating it every few hours - or by using an algorithm that would update the bids automatically. It can't be that difficult.*

Actually, I noticed awhile back that this year's reds are like the '67's, with white on the bottom rather than red below the white, so I've been fine with the red uniforms. The white on the other hand is BU and we should not be wearing those.

Doesn't seem worth getting agitated over to me, and I say that as someone who didn't overlap as an undergrad with ANY of the guys who were listed. (As far as I can figure, there's nobody between Dan Ratushny and the guys from the class of 2003, i.e. nobody from the 1996 and 1997 ECAC championship teams.)

Yes, "agitated" was, not surprisingly, an overstatement. I wouldn't say "irked" is accurate, either. I'm just disappointed with the list. That's all. I suspect others of my era are, too. And I'm not convinced that bidders from the classes of '00 through '10 will be more generous in their offers than those from the '60s and '70s would have been, so that argument seems spurious to me.

Where Josh was right was in saying the outcome of the voting was predictable, as Jim Hyla's prescient posting back on January 26 demonstrates. Being predictable doesn't mean an "ugh" isn't an appropriate response from some of us who've seen all those players on the ice. With that, I think we've wasted enough time and space on this.

As predicted, bidding heating up in the last 4 hrs of the Auction. Interesting that at the last notice
Iles' jersey had a bid $90 more than Garman's. Hope it doesn't get into Mike's head. Both were higher than Scali, Bitz, Scrivens, and Scott. Nieuwendyk and Dryden both at $1000.

Somebody blew me out of the water with a Ratushny bid. Wow.

EDIT - Dan ($1,300) went for more than Nieuwendyk ($1,000)......wasn't expecting that.
