With the success Union and RPI are enjoying this season, wouldn't it be ironic if they both made it to the ECAC semifinals the year the tournament is moved from Albany to Atlantic City. One of the reasons attendance suffered in Albany was that Union and RPI never made it to the ECAC semifinals all of the years the tournament was held in their neighborhood. Now both teams may advance that far, but will have to travel all the way to Atlantic City!

Cornell beat Union in the ECAC Finals last year in Albany.

I believe he meant that Union and RPI never made it to the semifinals in the same season. dbilmes was in attendance for the Cornell/Union game last year.

However, Union and RPI have a pretty enthusiastic fan base that might travel in large numbers, especially if both make it. Yale fans don't travel that well, neither does Dartmouth. Princeton might draw because they're so close. But if Cornell and/or Clarkson are the other two teams beside RPI/Union, they might get their biggest crowd in several years, then pat themselves on the back for moving the party to AC. Put those four teams in Albany and they could get 12K.
