A lot of the photos are sort of artsy long exposure shots. Hard to isolate your subject that way in hockey with all the nonuniform movement inherent in a skater. Definitely very hit-or-miss (usually miss), but one can get bored with the whole high-ISO-battling-noise-and-stupid-Lynah-lights game, so pardon the indulgence.
If you're wondering, the take-home message I got from it is "go big or go home." Either shoot at 1/1000 or 1/30, but everything in between just comes in as a bit blurry. When the very long exposure stuff works, it's pretty neat, even if you're only getting <5% return. And if you're doing that, don't expect to get goals and the like.

Collins' expression in the first picture on page four, when the ref didn't call the goal, is priceless.
