For many years the athletic department would stagger start times for when the Hockey and Basketball teams were in town on the same weekend. We would go to a packed Barton Hall, not the high school gym they play in today, leave when the basketball game ended and make it to Lynah just in time for the National Anthem. This is an Ivy League institution for god’s sake, figure it out! I do feel sorry for the students today, those were some of the greatest weekends I ever had at Cornell.

But students today can't even be bothered to show up in time for the opening faceoff when we've had a nationally ranked hockey team. what makes you think that a doubleheader night of Cornell sports is a priority for a majority of current students?
Aside from "in my day!" comments, start times for hockey games are set by the league (ECAC games anyway). It's not like it's just Cornell's decision to drop the puck at 7pm. The teams only have flexibility if the the other school agrees and there are probably some good reasons why the visitor wouldn't agree to a change.

Well, considering both games are sold out (or damn close to it) tonight, I think it would be foolish to say that students aren't interested in the doubleheader. I suppose this way gets more students out to the games, but I know if I were on campus I'd be angry I couldn't go to both. Hell, I'm annoyed enough just switching my Redcast feed back and forth!
