Cornell on the radio - why radio only?

Cornell on the radio - why radio only?

Here we are, 2008. I'm trying to understand why we don't have video not just audio broadcasts for every game. From a university that helped make the Internet be The Internet.

Bill,

You can go over to the Colgate hockey home page, give them your credit card number and pay $9.95 to watch the game.

Just remember to cancel your all-access subscription, or you will be able to watch Colgate sports for months to come.

You remember that tonight's game is away, right?

Indeed. I already paid, what, $50 or$60 for a subscription to Cornell sports for the year. You'd think there'd be reciprocity. Otherwise you're paying $50 for half the Cornell football, hockey, and lacrosse games, and three, four, five times that if you tuned in to a lot of road games.

All Cornell has to say is to Colgate, Dartmouth, the pond scum in Cambridge, etecetera: When Cornell's at home, we'll provide a webcast to your RaiderCast, BigGreenScreen, FutureFortune500JailbirdsWebcast, whatever, so long as it's a for-fee webcast, and you feed us yours when we're at your place. [edit add:] The for-fee stipulaton being so Cornell fans don't get a free ride.

Sounds great. But it doesn't exist yet, and where there are several companies providing content, it's not all that shocking. In the meantime, you subscribed to a season's worth of home games, and in theory you knew it when you clicked the "pay now!" button.

How does it work when schools with B2 packages play each other?

Surprisingly, they do include it in the package.

Kinda like the 'friends and family' in-network cell phone deals, just for sports.

think about the new finacial aid package.. the cost of one student that they cover loans for would cover the cost of the entire hockey video package being free for everyone for the year..

they just moved millions around but 20K cant be found to clean up the video feeds.
