Interesting. Any idea what's really driving this? (I'm going to take a wild guess: money. )

The part I don't understand is that a ton of guys in CIAU played in the CHL which of course makes them ineligible to play in the NCAA.

I wonder whether this will affect lacrosse, since it's also big in Canada. (Do CIAU schools even play intercollegiate lacrosse?)

maybe the fact that the loonie is trading at near parity against the US$ influenced the decision!?

We've even run into Cornell hockey alumni playing for CIAU teams as grad students against Cornell. (Darren Snyder, IIRC, and maybe Stu Smith)calgARI '07

I guess the CIAU teams who want to "join" (or whatever) the NCAA would adjust their recruiting. If, say, University of Toronto wants to join the ECAC and adjusts its eligibility accordingly, they become a magnet for Canadian talent currently flowing to NCAA schools. It. Could. Work.
