Capitol Region Seating

Anyone going to the RPI or Union games? I am probably going to go to RPI with a couple of friends and was wondering where the best seats would be for visiting fans. I found a 2002 thread that said we used to be in Section 1 behind a goal. Any concentrations of visitors along the sides?

I'm going to both games. Will probably get my tickets in the mail sometime this week, so I'll let you know where I'm sitting. I'll be in red #2 with the hugging bear hat, as usual.

I will be at both games showing love for the ghettos that are known as Troy and Schenectady and I plan on pre-gaming at the Notty Pine Friday night.

Sitting behind the goal in Section 1 at the RPI warehouse is not ideal for me. I believe someone last year described the seats as "the most dangerous seats in the ECAC." There is a net in front of the section that creates an obstructed view and meanwhile pucks can still fly over the net. Also, if you don't play hockey, the straight-on-view can be difficult. However, the number of Cornell fans in that section will be loud and proud and being in the middle of the cheers is a ton of fun in an away barn. I try to sit in the corners (section 19 and 18 or 4 and 5) near the designated Cornell section [www.rpi.edu]. The view of the ice is unobstructed and as long as I am close to the Cornell section, I have found that the stoic RPI fans don't get too upset at me for joining in on the cheers. RPI fans are nice people but because they love their team, they can also be huge homers. I have been violently shushed while sitting in section 9.

Picking seats is hardly a problem with Union because they have a much smaller rink. But as such, tickets can be scarce for the Cornell game. Typically we take up the entire bleacher section behind the Union season ticket holders (sections 1 thru 6). [www.union.edu]

We'll be going; I don't have our tickets handy but we ordered them through Cornell so we should be with whomever else orders them this way.

BTW, I just called the Cornell ticket office and they still have tickets available for the games.

Orders are taken over the phone by calling 607-254-BEAR or by visiting the ticket office, which is located in Bartels Hall on Campus Road. The ticket office is open Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

These might be huge games if it's close at the top going into the final weekend. It'd be great to have a large number of faithful there!

You know the band will be there. The Cornell allotment will be sold out (I think that's 200) and there will be others sitting throughout the other sections of both rinks. So, more than what was at Colgate. It's not like Harvard however. I'd guess 400 at Union. Maybe a little more at RPI but not as much as a Saturday game.

Didn't we have an Albany thread a few days ago? It's deja-"vous"...and frankly it's making me sick talking about the place.

has there been or is there any talk of a bus for these games?
