Cornell vs. Western Teams

I've been reading a lot of the forum and all the online articles I could find since I couldn't make it to the games myself.
Thinking about the scores against MSU, 4-2 and 3-4, I couldn't help but be reminded of the series against western michigan a couple of years back. That version of the Red was of course quite different, but it was an early season series and we let in a lot of goals.
Letting in 2 goals in the season opener against a top 10 team is outstanding in my view, but the 4 on saturday were a lot--- especially at lynah.
I don't at all believe the oft posted argument on uscho forums that cornell simply cannot handle "faster" western teams. That's obviously not true. But, my opinion is that we do have a little more difficulty against them during the beginning of the season that if we are playing them at the end. I think it's because our defense and system as a whole needs some time to gel, and I'll fell fine facing anyone come March.
Also, did anyone catch the Western victories against OSU? It stood out to me because OSU is a big, tough and strong defensive team, certainly much closer to cornell's style than anyone else out there.
Sounds like you all really got under MSU's skin this past weekend. nice job faithful!

Both the D and the O played very well for 5 of the 6 periods. Unfortunately, the Red looked lost, confused, and even a little panicky at times during the second period of game two, and against a top ten team, that equals death.
Cornell matched up well against MSU, even (perhaps, especially) when playing up-tempo. This was not "hang on by your fingernails, close your eyes tight, and pray" like last year's NCAAF loss. Cornell as the better team and would win a 5-game series against MSU.

Not to mention, we played both games at home. I do think we're the better team, but it's probably pretty close.
