Who is that guy?

Who is that guy?

Just wondering if anybody could help me out on this one. There's an elderly guy who gives each player a pound as they come on the ice for each period. He's always wearing a black jacket, and has white hair. On senior night, all the seniors hug him as they go by the scoreboard. I was wondering who is that guy, and why does he seem to be so important to all the hockey players? Thanks

That is Mike Teeter, and he's been the team's equipment manager for a number of years, also is a goal judge if I'm not mistaken.

And those rings on his fingers are National Championship rings, meaning he has been with the team since the 60's.

Whew - I was afraid this was going to be a stupid Cornell Laundry commercial. "Who is that no-shirt guy..."

I hate those things.

I seem to recall that Teeter really is a father-figure of sorts for the team. The guys really do love him, anyway - it's not just a tradition.

Mike Teter is one of the nicest and most unassuming guys you'll meet. He has to be the person with the longest tenure who's associated with Cornell hockey, dating back to the 1960s, meaning he has worked with something like a half dozen coaches and several hundred players. Don't know if Mike predates Ned Harkness or not; Al DeFlorio might know.
