ECAC tournament - reseeding?

Do they reseed teams after the first weekend? Are we guaranteed to play the winner of #8 vs #9, or do we get to play the lowest remaining seed?

It would be nice to have a chance to improve our RPI, but it's also nice to win!

Theoretically, it could lead to a situation in which Cornell could lose one game and better their PWR. Say they play SLU and the Saints are teetering on the edge of .500 RPI. Sweeping them puts them under and loses the Red 2 TUC wins. Winning 2-1 keeps SLU as a TUC and flips one or more comparisons to Cornell against higher PWR rivals.

Obviously, Cornell would try their best to sweep, (1) because that's what you do, and (2) because you can never be sure (c.f. ECAC QF 2004). But it points to a flaw in the system.

Although Cornell in particular would take a big hit in RPI by losing a single game, since one loss would drop our winning percentage.

I'm just glad they've modified the RPI so that we don't take a hit if we beat a team like Yale in the tournament. That new rule probably benefits us as much as anyone.

If SLU gets to the second round, they'd likely remain a TUC. A loss to us doesn't really hurt those teams much. It may be because of secondary and tertiary effects, and from a butterfly somewhere in Africa, but I think SLU's RPI actually went up last night.

With an RPI of .5025 and a few bonus points coming (.5055 with 3/2/1 bonus), a loss to Colgate, two wins, and a two losses to a high ranked team, they could very well be just fine. Throwing a first round loss in starts getting iffy though.
