Sometimes I love my new school too

It is surprsingly easy to do and was featured in the computer/hacker magazine "2600" a year or two ago.

Oh that's a classic. I'm trying to figure out where that sign is. I know they're replacing the bridge at the end of the Harvard, ahem, Mass. Ave. Bridge over Mem. Drive. Looks like it was shot from Mass. Ave. by MIT heading towards the bridge. I'm only asking because I'm.....curious....yes, that's it....curious

Tom--
I'm pretty sure it's the sign on the Cambridge side of the Mass Ave/Harvard Bridge, out in front of Ashdown House at MIT (which is where you're thinking of). Sadly, I think the construction people reset it to the original message

I believe it read 'Boston Ahead. Expect Delays' Though I must say that taking away all that parking on Mem. Drive to expand the 'park' along the river by 10 feet and adding traffic lights and new turnarounds just doesn't seem to jive with the 'historic restoration' of the road which is on some sign on Mem. Drive.
Did they finish the Stata Center yet? That was a project led by Beacon Skanska who's head is a Cornell alum. I knew a building that looks like it's falling down would take a long time to complete and what's with the building that's being built on top of the railroad tracks with the little tunnel for the train to go through. That train track is sketchy. I know it's the only way to get a train from North Station to South Station since they forgot to include a train tunnel in the Big Dig plans but a no gate train track crossing a major road in the middle of the city.

Does any construction project ever get finished in Boston?

On the topic of bashing of schools...
Anyone spot the "Grade Inflation" story by the Associated Press on how Princeton is actually going to do something about it?
Here's a link that may eventually not work:

Wow. 45% get A's and 65% get B+ or better.
I hope it's not like that at Cornell now (it sure wasn't when I was there).

"I know from our department chairs that they have some colleagues who say, 'No one is going to tell me how to grade,'" she told The New York Times.
The only adults who give a rat's ass about GPA are grad school admissions officers. The only students who are going to make a mark in academia are the ones who will get straight A's in their classes even if they are graded on a strict normal curve.
Talk about a debate with *nothing* riding on it.

[Q]The only adults who give a rat's ass about GPA are grad school admissions officers.[/Q]Not entirely true. I know for a fact that GPA is used as an initial filter in recruiting new college grads by some at my company. It may not matter much after that, but I'm sure there are some qualified people who get turned down for a job because they finished with a 2.98 instead of a 3.01.

Apropos of the location of this sign, take this Jeopardy quiz and provide the question that goes with this answer:
ANSWER:
Harvard, MIT, and BU.
QUESTION:
In Boston, name two colleges and a bridge.

Same at my company. Unless of course you belong to some desired minority group they're actively recruiting. Then, standards be damned.
