Pull For Harvard?

Yeah, I know, I never thought I would put that subject line on an ELF post either. But can it safely be assumed that the people going to watch the games at Worcester this weekend will be pulling for Harvard? While many of us have a lot of respect for the BU program, it seems that this the time of year for some conference/league loyalty.

Of course we're rooting for Harvard. We did last year, when we had a lot more to be bitter about. The only ambivalence I feel is that it would be fun to play BU in Buffalo if we both make it that far.

I would rather see Harvard make it to Buffalo only to dispel the notion of EZAC.

Hell, I don't mind playing ANYONE in that bracket in Buffalo, save for maybe St. Cloud. Obviously, I'd be happy as hell to get to the Frozen Four, and I could care less who we play, but any of the top three seeds have some pretty intriguing ramifications for The Red.

Harvard and BU are obvious, and playing UHN will give us a chance to avenge our loss in Worcester last season. Since we already got Harvard back for Placid and took care of BU at Lynah, I think I'd rather get another crack at UHN, but I really don't care who we play as long as we do make it to Buffalo.

I always root for ECAC teams in NCAA play. I'll root for Harvard all the way to the SF, at which point I'll root for us to beat them eleventy-leven to zip.

Of course we pull for Harvard. In 1989, I was in Hawaii with my family during the NCAA tournament. I'm in our room on a beautiful Hawaii mid-day cheering at the TV for Harvard. My family thought I had completely lost it. But that's college hockey and why we love it so!!!

LGR!!

Go Cantabs! Even if we don't make it to Buffalo, it would still be nice to see a team that we beat 3 times there! Same goes for BU....

Oh you misguided souls. ;-)

I'm expecting a tight game from the Cantabs, and after the way they played in Albany last weekend, I'm sure BU will be prepared to face Harvard's "A" game.

Good luck to the Big Red at the Dunk. If it comes down to BC and Cornell for Buffalo rights, I suppose I should stick behind the Hockey East party, but common decency prevents me from doing so.

And if the Eagles and Red do meet on Sunday, don't forget the "and BC too!" part of your BU cheer. :-)

I will do what I always do when Cornell's rivals play each other. Root for a deadly plague to befall both sides. Is that unreasonable?

Since I can't root for a tie, I'll settle for quadruple overtime and a big brawl.

Of course, it'd be fun to play Harvard in Buffalo too.

I'm thinking of going to Worcester, but because I might be going with a BU fan, I wouldn't be rooting for Harvard in that case... Sorry...

You can be sure that Coach Schafer will be rooting for Harvard and Coach Mazzoleni will be rooting for the Big Red. Go Harvard!

Don't mean to sound like Foghorn Leghorn, but does the accuracy of this sentence from a USCHO preview about the John Harvards sound a little bit off?

With a new Harvard team on the ice, however, the Crimson is hoping to pull off the type of postseason victories it became famous for in the early 1990s, when it was bringing home national titles.

1990s? Titles? Any theories? twitch
