By morning, however, he was headed back to Boston to see son Christopher play for Cushing Academy. The younger Bourque is still penciled in to play for Boston University beginning in the fall of 2005 ...

BTW...There's a kid, Brian Boyle, who was on a recruiting visit to BU last week. He's also supposed to be interested in Cornell, and now I know why -- 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. I can certainly see him handing out some bruises at Lynah. We'll have to see how it turns out. Of course the kid I was really interested in, Chad Kolarik (kid brother of Harvard's Ty), signed with Michigan last week.

I hope that with undefeated BC going down to defeat to UNH last night, the Lynah Faithful all drank a toast to your 1969-70 squad, whose unbeaten record lives for another season, and likely many more after that. Personally, I'd just drink to the BC loss. Now I just hope the Gophers don't get hot and make a serious run in the NCAAs when they get all their players back from injury the second half of the season, thereby extending the Terriers' streak of being the last back-to-back NCAA hockey champion.

Good luck with the John Harvards this weekend. We'll see you Big Red blokes over the holiday.

Actually, Mark, the record was safe when Clarkson beat Brown on Friday. After that, only Cornell could have matched it, and that ultra-slim hope ended the following night.

We don't let no stinkin' ties match our record. Especially by the scions of Snooks Kelley.

Chris Drury worked out pretty well, and this year freshman forward John LaLiberte looks like he'll do some good things for BU in the future.

Can you imagine if this Boyle kid ever got the chance to play with Bâby or your Swedish Irishman on the blue line? Talk about opposing forwards being caught in the *"Malacchi Crunch."

I just picked up the condensed history of BU hockey book put out by Arcadia Publishing. It's basically 128 pages of pictures with captions, but there's some neat stuff in there. One shot has Jack Parker being denied by Ken Dryden in front of the net, and there's also a picture of the infamous 3-3 tie in the Boston Arena Christmas Tournament. The shocking thing about that picture is, that little black thing is actually sitting behind Dryden in the net. You mean BU actually put one by this guy? There's also a shot of Ric Jordan taking a shot at Dave Ellenbaus (sp?) in the '72 championship game at the Gahden.

BU announcer Bernie Corbett (who you can all listen to for free over Thanksgiving!!) wrote the book. He also did one on Harvard football. I told him he should look into doing one on Cornell hockey, with a minimal investment by your athletic department. I imagine a book on the Big Red would sell out in what, about 15 minutes?

Well, if the Cornell athletics department had anything to do with the book, we'd have to read it via an ocsn subscription and they wouldn't let us look at both pictures and text on the same page.

BU put the puck past Dryden more than most and the Brown-Jordan "D" combination was really something to watch.

Actually, they might not let us look at the pictures at all -- it's an effort to improve the service offering. But we could read all about Miami's football program.

I am more worried about the AD selling out than the book!

Mark, I'll also email you, but what is the name of the book? I searched their website and it's not listed.

Yes, that's the BU book. I also saw it on the Barnes & Noble web site.

Not that it would be of any interest to anybody here, but Bernie also just had a book published on the first 50 years of the Beanpot Tournament, with BU, BC, NU and Harvard all receiving equal billing in what I think is about 300 pages. That one is also available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
