No Gametracker links listed on USCHO. I wonder if that would run afoul of exclusivity agreements signed by the NC$$ with other outlets, for other sports (squeak, squeak...).

He also thinks the first name of BU's coach is Jackie... and was bitching about lack of creativitiy in college sweaters because they are all red... and said how college players just aren't as poised on the PP as NHLers...and that's just in the first...

At least one good thing came of ESPN losing (or not wanting) the NHL contract. Pierre McGuire >>> Barry Melrose. Also, Jell-O >>> Barry Melrose, but you take what you can get.

Between the TV timeouts and reviewed goals there is certainly plenty of time for a team lacking in depth to catch its breadth. I hope our game is low scoring with few whistles so CC starts to get a little tired. Not to mention a low scoring game should help us.
And another Bu goal 6-2, Chris Higgins (ironically) already has a hat trick. Goalie started hot but is probably mentally done now. Goaltending is often like a dam- once a leak starts a solid wall can fall apart quickly.

To be fair, the UNO defense has hung Kaufman out to dry for most of those. Shaky now, yes.
Higgins now has 8 goals on the season, 3 of them in 10 minutes.

Melrose is doing the color for the NCAA provided TV broadcast. Any station who picks up this game for broadcasts gets the same TV coverage. Bob Norton is on the intermission studio show.

That's what I mean. As a goalie, eventually the other team will get some goals when there is no defense even if the tender is playing great. Even though you know the goals are not your fault, it is very difficult to maintain confidence and timing after a while.

I think Melrose is doing the TV broadcast. The audiocast is being done by the UNO hometown radio crew. If Melrose is doing that "fine a job" on TV, maybe we should be glad we are "dish-less" . Usually the bad color commentary was saved to the during the FF when ESPN2/ESPN picked up the coverage. But I guess this is one of the "perks" of having some of the games picked up by ESPNU.

I don't think that matters - all a natural hat trick requires is that the same player score three goals in a row with nobody else on either team scoring in between. I've never heard any requirement that they all be even strength, or anything like that.

6 goals in period against UNO sets record against them. I think they also said tied Regional record.

The term natural hat trick refers to either of two feats: when a player scores three goals in the same period, or when a player scores three goals consecutively.

UNO takes a 5 minute major for hitting from behind - a retaliatory hit.
Barry says the original BU hit was clean, I'm not sure sure, but the UNO hit was much worse.
Edit: But BU gets 2 for roughing, so 2:00 of 4x4, then 3:00 of 5x4 for BU.
Barry says the original BU hit was clean, I'm not sure sure, but the UNO hit was much worse.
Edit: But BU gets 2 for roughing, so 2:00 of 4x4, then 3:00 of 5x4 for BU.

Last time a team put up 10 in the NCAAs was 1990 when Lake State did it to UAA in an opening round series. LSSU got swept by Colgate in the quarters.
Minnesota put up 9 on Mercyhurst in '03. We all know what happened that year...

Well, we need something to get in the way of Harvard - should it come to that. Better BU than say, Minnesota? Either way it may be

Let's hope the Crusaders keep it closer thatn the Mavs did in the first game today.

No kidding. Not only has Harvard racked up the goals, but BU did this to UNH in the Hockey East tournament before the suddenly abnormal 2-1? OT final against BC.
If BALCO was in Boston we could speculate that they had been dumping evidence into the Charles.

Notably absent on the REA ice is any Sioux logo. Instead it just says "UND"

KKAR announcers for UNO were pretty quiet (understandably), but steady and consistent. Gave a lot of credit to BU while trying to pull some silver linings out of the game for UNO. Disappointed in the game, but proud of UNO for getting the 1st appearance in their only 9-year history. Good play-by-play and good at keeping us informed on SOG, shots attempted, penalties, etc. Politely hoped for the best for UNO, but not big-time homers. Many other schools would do well to have these guys broadcasting their games.
Interestingly, they said the DU Center? (formerly Worcester Centrum) had lousy press facilities which made one of them late coming back from a break. Apparently long way down a floor or two to bathrooms. They praised the arena in Omaha as much more modern and more press friendly.

PP over. Gophers seem to be sleeping still. HC has a bigger spring in the step. We'll see how that holds up for the remaining 48 minutes.

What? Gopher fans aren't giving their opponent credit for playing well while their team is flat? Somebody send RichS over there to straighten them out...

couple random HC-Minny notes:
-if the camera angles were any worse you'd think it was the all-access video from Lynah.
-HC is getting huge fan support from the Dakota locals...

It's no worse than games from Marriucci or Yost... just really really high up. It's jarring to switch back and forth with Worcester though.

yeah- I guess Englesadt didnt leave any extra money for finding good camera locations
The shots are too tight in though, even though they are high.

Holy Cross retakes the lead on the PP.
2-1 with HC on the PP. 5 min to go in the second.
