Folks,
There seems to be enough interest in this to call ahead and let Riviera know we're coming and what our rough head count will be. Riviera, if you don't know, is on the northwest corner of 7th Avenue and West 4th Street, very close to the Christopher Street 1 station. If you're planning to head down there on Saturday night, could you please respond (even if you've already said so in the other thread) either to this thread, or to me by private message, or to me by email, and I'll call ahead and make sure we can get some space and a TV or two. Thanks!

Would there happen to be anyone living on the UES who receives the game and would be able to record it for me? I can't make it to watch the game on Saturday night, but, if possible, would love to watch it on do-it-yourself tape delay Sunday morning. I have TiVo and the ability to burn programs and all, I just don't receive the right TV channels, so I'm out of luck there. I would compensate the kind soul who hooks me up on this...
(Either DVD or VHS are okay formats...)

Is this place likely to be kid-appropriate, at least similar to Ship of Fools during the NCAAs last year (although that wasn't a night game)?

They serve a full menu so they certainly don't prohibit kids. In fact, I sat next to a full table of kids at the Riviera during the 2004 game against BC. The bar on the lower level looks like a dive but the crowd is mostly youngish professionals. The size of the crowd (and the rowdiness) depends entirely on what other games are on that night.

A) It's the West Village, hardly a rowdy neighborhood.
B) This Saturday night seems likely to be the calm before the storm in that it's the night before the Super Bowl. The Knicks aren't playing. The Rangers are in Philly, which might draw a small crowd (but it's a 5pm game so we might miss some of that). BC-VT seems to be the only name college basketball game going on at that time of day.
In other words, I wouldn't worry about the kid-appropriateness.

Maybe. I'm going to try but forces beyond my control may keep me away. I will try to bring said forces along.

I spoke to the manager at Riviera. He said he's pretty sure there'll be room, but they don't take reservations, so please try to get there early if possible. See you there!

Great turnout, people. It was fun watching with you. Even though I sat in the auxilliary seating with my brother and our own TV opposite the main crowd.
