I'm sure many of you are aware of an event known as the Pan-Mass Challenge. It's a 2-day, 192-mile bike ride in August that helps the fight against cancer. Some of you have been kind enough to support me and my wife, Sarah, in our participation in this event. And I'll bet there are many more of you out there who support other riders as well.
Well, a great big THANK YOU!! goes out to each and every one of you for doing so. Through the efforts of the riders, the volunteers, and most importantly folks like you who open their wallets, hearts, and even their homes (thanks, Al and Donna), this year's PMC set a new fundraising record: $23 million!!!
That money will go to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, through its Jimmy Fund, to support critical cutting-edge cancer research and much-needed treatment. And what's more, that figure represents 99% of every rider-raised dollar, a new milestone for an athletic event of this magnitude. (BTW, over its history, the PMC has now contributed more than $145 million to Dana-Farber. Not bad for an endeavor that started 26 years ago when a few dozen friends raised about $10,000 in the inaugural PMC.)
If you'd like to read more about this year's gift, go to:
And for more information about the PMC itself, go to [www.pmc.org]
Once again, thanks for your support. And don't worry if you missed it this year. We'll be out there again next year, pedaling our butts off to get us closer to a cure. I'll be sure to let you know how you can contribute.

Oh, and I suppose you think that cancer is deserving of a dancing banana?
