Lerg just got his first collegiate save.

Cornell's got it in the msu end...doing nicely. can't decide whether we're more energetic than msu or just got it set up quickly.

back and forth, topher battles for the puck, back into cornell end. crowd chanting potter (he's on the ice and they clearly don't like him)...sasha hits hard and we hear a whistle. 2 min for interference, around 17 left in the period?

save by mckee (sorry i got distracted by the conversation around me). faceoff with potter being pest-like again. save by mckee, rebound, shot was from lerg, and o'byrne clears it away. i think we've given him too hard of a time - either that or he's just done a good job defensively this year so far. and the pk is almost over, with a whistle.

pp over. even strength. msu sucks.

thanks again kaaren :) (you did mention it last night - sorry that the server crashed and i couldn't finish it)

back and forth action, lots of stoppages, and hence lots of pep band. game on, lerg the skater is playing a lot, but lerg the goalie isn't seeing much action. we haven't managed to get much going in their end, but lerg just got called for something, so we're on the pp. see ya!

eek, we're not playing like we're on the pp - mckee just had to make a save. we're back in their zone, but not quite setting up our cycling. along the boards, out of the zone, thanks to potter (boo). minute left on the pp, and we're back in their zone, but still not doing much. faceoff just outside the blue line, and we're trying to get something going, and almost have it. lgr! moulson almost got it, rebound, topher tries, and lerg freezes the puck. good attempt at the end by the red, and hopefully will continue.

lerg is off for msu. maybe someone for the red?

so we start this pp like we played at the end of the last one, cycling nicely. the occasional one-timer from people, topher's flailing as he gets hooked not once but twice. min left in the pp, delayed penalty on msu, mckee out of net, but msu touches the puck. 5x3 now, i think

assists from scott and bitz.

msu skates hard down the ice, shot, net off. abdulkatur and gleed (?) mixing it up. but somehow drew miller goes off the ice for msu. announcers saying it was a frustration penalty. hehe - frustration and there's still 8:29 left in the 1st period.

pp again, and pegs misses a pass from barlow (settling the question of whether barlow's playing tonight after the misconduct last night). apparently the pass would've been a beauty.

we haven't gotten it set up in the msu end yet, because potter and lerg keep on clearing it out. about halfway through the pp, play stopped because the puck went off the net. topher gets the puck from the faceoff, but we don't manage to keep it in their end...pp over, but another penalty coming up. bitz off for cross-checking.

6:16 left to go, our pk looks solid, and we clear. actually doesn't look too different from our pp, except that we're in our own end a little more.
commentators saying that msu is doing a much better job of getting their pp set up as compared to last night.

shot blocked by cornell, pk almost over, and i think there have been a ton of whistles tonight already. pk over, topher freezes a puck while battling 2 msu players, meaning topher rocks.

thanks, mike. but just imagine if i hadn't...all those pssst, hey guys things would never have happened.

3:20ish left, mckee saves (no rebound). all the 5x5 play hasn't been really dominated by either team, though it looks like we might have a bit of an edge because we hold the puck against the boards when we can in their end. 2:45 left, play stopped again. commentators mentioning topher a lot, sasha almost got something there, but lerg knocked it "out of the air". fuzzy screen means i can't quite see where the puck is, though i can guess. carefoot and barlow playing nicely, mckee saves, scrum around the net. freder and nightingale are fighting with cornell, mccutcheon is fighting abdulkatur. 2 (freder and nightingale) off for msu, kennedy and mugford off for cornell. (bullshit calls from the crowd)

i have no idea what the other penalties were.

shots by us, ob shot, save, pokuluk shot, save, we were doing a good job on this pp until then. 20.9 sec left in the first.

10 sec...barlow shot, but blocked....meh. 15 sec of pp left for the red in the second period.

game on. shot by abbott, but nothing came of it. pp over.

back and forth action again, hanging out behind our net and we try to bring it up the ice. bitz just tried to skate through three msu players, kinda got off a shot, but lerg stopped it.

again with stuff in the neutral zone, into our end, save by mckee, sasha just hit someone over and got called for being too big.

so we're on the pk, msu cycling, one-timer failed. they're getting a lot of shots off, play stopped. second pk unit on, i think, we're blocking shots or trying, carefoot and abbott get a 2x1, but lerg saves off of carefoot's shot. lgr!

28 sec left on their pp, we're clearing well right now, and they almost got it in from the side of the net. shooting again, mckee saves with a rebound, and sasha's out. still in our end, mcc gets it out, sasha trips as he tries to follow it, and line change...stuff happens, play stopped.

moulson just got a shot off, but deflected by msu. we're skating in our own end, getting ourselves together and up against the boards in their end, but we didn't get anything together. msu on a breakaway...and score, shg. msu sucks.

msu 2, cornell 1. 6:58 in the 2nd period.

i think there was a missed pass in there that led to that breakaway.

we're still on the pp, setting something up, but the pp's over. icing on msu.

announcers off air.

lynah's a bit quieter, we're fighting for the puck as we bring it up ice, and no one's getting anything at all set up as there's more back and forth stuff. whistle blows.

potter seems to be working hard to break up our chances. a cornell player just got hit in what looked like the back of his head, behind the play, nothing called.

cowbell.

abbott had a chance there, barlow and carefoot working against the boards and trying to cycle. sadly, they get it out of their end...mckee saves, cornell players all fall down in fron tof the goal as they attempt to keep the puck from going in.

faceoff near our net. mcc gets it into the msu end - announcers say he's impressing on the pk and i agree. hand pass called (also because of mcc).

1:32 left on the pp. puck in our end, msu cycling, as we try to break it up. cam abbott clears into msu zone. :45 left. i think we're playing better on the pk, though without the offensive opportunities of 5x5.

:10 left on the pp...msu cycles, puck gets caught up in front of the net, dave dives to cover it as we get back to even strength.

potter being harrassed by the faithful

really good save by mckee - post-to-post i think, but i missed it. 1:12 left on the msu pp, puck in neutral zone, back to our end. msu cycles, shoots from up close, save but a rebound, and the same player i think puts it in. second pp goal of the night/period for him (or maybe they meant for the team). 4:50 left in the period.

3-1, MSU powerplay goal. McKee made a few great saves but had no chance on the rebound.

MSU really taking it to us this period.

Seminoff gets it out of our end, moulson and sawada playing hard in their end, but the puck goes out. cornell end now, mckee saves.

3:29 left. 3-1, all msu goals in the 2nd period.

in our end, still. moulson and sawada had the first enxtended pressure for us in a while...we need more of that. speedy skating going on, with a lot of passes and chasing pucks. we're in the msu end, finally with abbott and topher doing well...pegs keeps it in, but lerg clears. back into our end, and we shoot, but miss wide. lgr from the crowd, we seem to be more intense than earlier in the period, possibly because we're finally not playing on the pk and have gotten a bit of a rythem going iwith 5x5.

one minute.

Good stretch of control in the MSU end, but not getting any good shots. But at least we are showing a bit more urgency.

faceoff, we win. on the boards, in front of their net...and it's cleared. we get called for icing. msu scores off the faceoff. (lerner...SUCKS!)

we need to get back on our game, because 4 goals in one period is not so good. in fact, it's downright awful.

period over, 4-1 msu.

Terrible icing by Kranz -- he had no pressure and iced it five feet before the red line. MSU's goal came directly off the ensuing faceoff.

When have we last given up 4 goals in a period?

game on.

looked for a moment like we came out a little more intense, but i'm now not so sure. against the boards in msu end after a few hard hits from us.

announcers saying that msu's trying to take moulson ineffective and let us do whatever else we want. might actually be a good diea on their part. 17:45 left.

mcc chasing the puck into msu end, shoots, and save lerg. mcc looks really good tonight

energy on our part - it looks like we've started to get back on top of our game. energy from the crowd too, esp as sawada checks hard (though i think he just got called for it...like 30 seconds later)

a rope, a tree...

about 15 min left. msu pp.

"kill schafer kill" as feola goes over and chats with him. play's been stopped for a while, but we're back on.
msu shot, blocked, pegs picks it off and runs away with a msu player chasing...he got close to scoring, but didn't manage it. back into the other end, but pegs is down on the ice. for a really long time....trainer's on the ice, team discussing strategy with schafer. pegs off the ice (to the locker room, i think). stitches to the face, the announcers think he'll need (yes, i sound like yoda).

faithful cheering "throw him out"

i'm blind, i'm deaf - at a ridiculously high decibel level.

msu penalty. 5 min major on #18 (abdulkatur), along with game dq.

him being gone is good for us, as abdulkator has been a good player this weekend.

apparently blood was scraped off the ice, though, so the incident as a whole is not good for us.

mitch is also off the ice, though i have no idea why (moulson and krantz helping him). i guess there was an incident previously that schafer had been talking to feola about that has him woozy.

cam and chris on ice together as play starts again. we're close to keeping everything in their end.

moulson shot, rather, deflecting off sawada into the net.

1,2, 3 we want more!!

still on the pp, because it's a major. about 13 min left in the third. potter keeps clearing the puck, we keep bringing it back...msu just cleared into the cornell bench. sawada with another chance, but save. mugford to the glass into the crowd.

tubas.

apparently quick line changes as we work to keep the pp advantage. 1:53 left on pp.

i think i was wrong on the time left in the period earlier.

cornell timeout.

I think I saw Pegoraro back, wearing Kindret's sweater.

Edit: I am confident that Pegoraro has returned.

2nd edit: Jason Weinstein got word that Pegoraro is indeed wearing Kindret's sweater. Pegoraro's sweater is blood-stained.

sorry, all, my computer just died, had to be plugged in and restarted. what laptop doesn't give you warning when the battery's dying?

anyway, in general, we seem to be playing very hard, with a lot of time in their end, and a lot of chances, but nothing scored.

kindret's playing. topher's excellent.

cornell momentum, icing on msu.

faceoff into boards work. lots of frosh out there playing, gleed has a shot, mugford apparently gets the puck into the crowd.

hmmm...pegs is in the kindret jersay...wonder if kindret's played at all then. cornell controlling the puck through center ice and into msu zone...cleared into cornell end. under 2 min in the third. lgr!

hand pass called.

1:39 left in the third

i can't see faces in the webcast, and the announcers just recently noticed it was pegs.

we keep on shooting, just wide or bouncing off the glove of lerg. mckee on the bench, extra skater for us.

someone shoots, rebound to sawada, and lerg somehow manages to save it. lerg keeps on saving :45 left.

faceoff to ...another whistle. :14.4

student sections throwing stuff onto the ice? eek, hope that was very quickly squashed. loud lgr going on now...and loud booing of the msu players. msu players won't get off the ice, so sawada goes and helps them out...cornell skates back to center ice for the stick salute. at least there's a lot of appreciation for what they did tonight, even if they did lose.

okay, all. i'm off to a halloween party - hope my commentary was helpful :)
