Jeff, from New York, asks: "Matt, where were you when you heard the Chariot was closing its doors forever?"

But the Nines now serves corn nuggets, if that was the reason for your concern.
Of course, they serve them at a much more glacial pace, but they serve them.

Should I ask about his plans regarding the NHL, or should I not put bad ideas in his head

It's safe to ask, since he's in his senior year.

Has no senior ever left a college team mid-season to go pro?
Not that I think Moulson would, unless Cornell were doing much, much more poorly than expected and he were offered a huge signing bonus. I'm just askin'.

Okay, I just knocked my large, heavy wooden desk.

Dryden played the 68-69 season at Cornell, the following season for the Canadian national team, most of the 70-71 season for Montreal's AHL affiliate, and then was called up late in the season to the Canadiens, where he won the six regular season games he played, and then helped the Canadiens to the Cup while winning the Conn Smythe award as MVP.

Dryden doesn't really seem the type to have left schhol early. Heck, the man earned a law degree while playing professional hockey! Besides, in the 60's NHL teams didn't put much faith in college players. Quoting Dryden from this months' "Spirit" magazine: "I knew when I went to Cornell that playing in the NCAA meant no NHL for me. We understood that."

YESS he answered my question and probably alot of people had the same question. He answered why he got into a fight with gleed.
Mike, Ithaca: Matt, I was at the red white game and i saw you get into a fight with Jon gleed. How serious was that fight and have you guys worked things out?
Matt Moulson: Me and Jon are really close friends and we have been from our freshman to our senior year. People don't realize that we've been going at each other for two months and we have a lot of pride. We were competing and I gave him a slash and he gave me a cross check, and things got a little heated. It might have been a shock to people in the stands because they don't watch our practices, but those things are going to happen when you're competing and working hard. We worked it out, and we laugh about it now.
I feel so special....haha.

And, if I'm not mistaken...won the Rookie Of the Year award the following year!!!
Has anyone in any sport done that before or since? Pretty amazing winning the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP without having played enough games to use up his eligibility as a "rookie".

Not mistaken at all, Rich. Smythe followed by Calder.

One gets so used to BS from athletes that when one responds openly or honestly (or at least plausibly so) it is shocking. I'm glad that he (1) answered the question; (2) took some of the blame and (3) that there are no lingering effects. Good for him and good for Gleed that they care enough to fight and care enough to make up.
I'm feeling good about the season already.
