I'm assuming that there's no way for us out-of-towners to partake of this weekend's game, right?

Hope the in-towners show those U-18s what they'd be missing if they go to other schools...

The game might be on the online video package, but right now there is neither audio or video listed on cstv.com

Typically the audio of this game has been available online in past years, hasn't it?
If they didn't do video for an exhibition I guess I could understand (although wasn't the phrasing, 'all home men hockey games'?), but if they give us less than they did in the past, then I'm pissed

dont remember, but the last time we played them here, we did start a "USA! USA!" cheer at the end of the game after we beat them. forget if that was last year or the year before.

It would be nice if they felt appreciated after being verbally slaughtered.

"United States Under-Eighteen National Development Team....SUCKS!", maybe? A la Renssalear Polytechnic Institute...SUCKS!"

(I know I've misspelt or forgotten the order of something in there.)

It probably doesn't get much "touchier" than when they came into Lynah shorty after 9/11 for a mid-seson exhibition game.

I believe there were even comments from Schafer in the paper leading up to that game that he hoped the Faithful would treat the U-18 team like any other visiting opponent during the game. And that was done for the most part...throwing of porn, comments regarding diapers, high school, etc. After the game they were sent off with a standing O and "USA! USA!" chants.

Here's what I could dig up:

The exhibition also serves Cornell's recruiting purposes. The Red hopes that some of the prospects may consider Cornell for college after visiting Lynah.

"It's a great recruiting tool for us for them to see our fans in this place," Schafer said. "It's even more important for them to go back and talk to the 17 year-olds [about] how great of an atmosphere it is.

"We know that there are a lot of tickets left because they're not part of the season ticket package and we just hope that the Lynah fans will come out [tomorrow]. They have no idea of the importance of the game in the sense of the future players who come to Cornell."

So don't go soft, but don't be stupidily inappropriate either, I guess.

or we could do it for all of the schools they are attending next year...

BU
OSU
Wisconsin
Michigan
MSU
UVM
Denver
Colorado College
Minnesota (ugh)

this way it wouldn't be as dull and repetitive as usual--but I doubt the majority of the crowd would get the joke

I don't get it. Why do we feel the need to support them in a patriotic manner just because they have USA written on their jerseys? It's not like they're in the military. They just play hockey against kids from other countries.

How many USA-Under 18 players have matriculated at Cornell?

Chris Gartman '03 is the only one so far. There is hope that Chad Morin, who played on the U-18 team last year as a 16-year-old defenseman, will become the second.

Morin did leave to play in the USHL this year though. Almost all of their guys going to college next year have already committed to schools but I personally don't like most of the players that come out of NDP.

1) Nobody has stated a need to support the team in a patriotic manner.

2) Why do you feel the need to interpret support of the team as a patriotic gesture? Maybe a copule months after 9/11 there were undertones that couldn't be ignored, but what if we just want to show support for the team? Their name is "U.S. National Team." So I'd think think "USA!" would be a better supportive cheer than "Little Kids!"

While I think shouting out the whole name would be pretty funny, I think we could just abbreviate them as "USDT... Sucks!"

I got the sense he would have said just about anything to divert attention from "the fight."

By the way, the really desperate can follow tonight's game on Gametracker. If it's staffed and working, that is.

I think gametracker is working for me (but it has been a looooong week, so I may be hallucinating).

Cornell is ahead 1-0 at the start of the second. Shots in the first were Cor 15 U18 4.

It's 2-0 CU. With a PP goal in the first and one in the second.

O'Byrne from Pokulok. PP
Scott from Pokulok and Bitz PP

Shots are 22-6 about halfway through the second.
