whats the deal with the seated only seats?

I made prior commitments to goto Boston this weekend so I had my friends who I was blocking with take my sheet, etc.
But anyways, since our numbers were kinda poor, we ended up in section G, in the "seated only" section? Which I guess means we can't stand. What is the deal with these seats/reason behind not allowing anyone to stand? Also, are these rules enforced?
I've moved from Section B, to section E, and finally to section G in the years I've had tickets so its kind of disappointing. But seats are seats, and standing or sitting, I'll be just as loud.

It used to be mainly a townie section, but I think there's been more and more students in the past 5 years. A couple seasons ago, there were some incidents with cops taking people out of Lynah very forcefully. So yea, they enforce the rules.

The section (at least in past years) was cut diagonally down to the left corner of the ice so that the townies in section H can see the entire surface. I sat in G two years ago and found that enforcement was inconsistent.

I've been in the sitting part of G before. Brian's right that the enforcement is rather inconsistent. My advice is: Stand if you can, but if anyone--ANYONE--asks you to sit down, just sit down and don't make a fuss.

Thank you, Will. Sometimes older alums like to sit and watch the game too.

I was in G last year and during the first game a cop came over and tried to make the entire section sit down. I had thought it was the diagonal bit too so i asked him about it (politely i might add). I then sat down cause he threatened to kick me out. Two minutes later we score and the entire section stands up and stays that way. They didn't ask us to sit the rest of the year
