....but Moses knocks in the rebound.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a deomograhically disproportionate number of forum readers will appreciate this article in the Crimson on Jewish athletes and hockey players:
Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a single Jewish NHL player. I am sure that you will all prove me wrong.

Kohn is Jewish but hasn't played an NHL game since 02-03 (with the Flames). Dubinsky is also Jewish but he hasn't played an NHL game since 02-03 either. Schneider won't be aroudn much longer. Cammalleri will be in the league for a long time and recent Flames first round pick and outgoing Michigan captain, Eric Nystrom, is on his way as well. And for what it's worth, Stan Fischler is Jewish.

Wow, what a golden opportunity for one of my all-time favorite jokes.
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Yitzhak.
Yitzhak who?
Yitzhak-ey night in Canada!
Courtesy of my high school hockey coach, the only Jew to hail from Winnipeg.

I wonder whether Milo will be the first Cornellian from the Frozen Chosen. Mark Weiss, Bob Zimmerman, Devin Mintz, and Levi Clegg are at least barely possible precursors.

Levi Clegg came from Utah, so I'm guessing he was a Mormon.

Well, this got me looking around...and amazingly, there is a 1973 short film called The Jews of Winnipeg. [www.imdb.com] Anyone ever seen it? Heard of it?
I suppose if the movie is called The Jews Of Winnipeg, there must be more than one. However, the list, as far as I know, is only two names long.

Definitely Jewish, and publicly so; a product of Montreal's large English-speaking Jewish community. I doubt he's observant (gotta rumble on Shabbat), but I've read about his active participation in Jewish cultural events while he was a Blackhawk.

No real reason. It just struck me that a disproportionate number of people on e-Lynah are MOTs.
Age and Al Deflorio being two exceptions that jump to mind

When it comes to hockey, I pray in the house of worship on East Hill and read from the Book of Lynah... (I still love that "Rockets RED glare" opening hymn T-shirt.)

Compared to what? Entire US population? Yes. Cornell undergraduate population? Probably about the same.

Although the list isn't comprehensive, there's a story on NHL.com that talks about the Israeli Hockey Federation.
In their list of notable players, they mention everyone's favorite goalie: Sieve-Sieve.

I think that's why at least during my time there, Hillel/Kosher Dinging Hall advertised at Lynah even though half the games were Friday nights.
But with complete honesty I think the Harvard article was obnoxious. Plenty of athletic Jews out there, but Jews are just a miniscule portion of the population of the world and country. The Harvard article stank of that school's inability to act with class and dignity.

Then again, when Noyes Center Dining put out bagels as a special service during Passover, you knew somebody didn't quite get it.
