There will be at least two places to watch Cornell play Harvard in the ECAC championship game on Saturday at 8 p.m. (CSTV, DirecTV channel 610) in Philadelphia and the greater Delaware Valley.

CENTER CITY PHILADELPHIA: The Fox and Hounds Smokehouse and Tavern on 1501 Spruce Street (15th & Spruce) has been kind enough to promise a TV (although not necessarily a seat for everyone). Parking shouldn't be a problem -- they have a parking facility above the establishment, and they'll validate your ticket. Phone: 215-732-8610.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA: Cornell folks also plan to gather at the Stadium Grille (Eagle) on 570 Simpson Drive, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. John Vitale '89 tells me it's a Bring-Your-Own-Beer place. Good for people in the West Chester, Downingtown, and Eagle area. Phone: 610-321-2595.

Anyone know of any place on the Main Line/King of Prussia area to watch? I don't know if I can make it downtown.

There is a Fox and Hound in the ring road of King of Prussia Mall which has CSTV on a few sets all the time, but no volume.

Hillel, Is the Center City location going to let us listen as well as watch?

No promises were made about sound. I wouldn't get my hopes up given the competition from the NCAA basketball tournament, but I bet the more hockey fans show up, the more likely they'll let us turn up the volume.

Chester County addendum

Clarification on watching the ECAC championship in Chester County (as opposed to Center City Phila) on Saturday at 8 p.m.:

It turns out that there are two Stadium Grilles in Chester County only about 15 minutes apart. The location where Cornell folks are expected to gather is the one at the Eaglepointe Shopping Center on Rte. 100 (= Simpson Drive?) in Chester Springs, one mile north of the Downingtown exit (number 312) off the PA Turnpike. Do NOT go to the Stadium Grille on Turner Lane in West Chester.

Update on the Center City Philadelphia location for watching the CU-Harvard game tonight at 8 p.m.: The Fox and Hound Smokehouse & Tavern at 1501 Spruce Street.

They confirmed one TV -- maybe two. Based on last night's chaos, they also warned us to expect major crowds due to hoops, so don't expect seats for all. Look for Cornell jersey on/near TV as a flag.

Here are DIRECTIONS:

FROM THE NORTH... Take I-95 South. Exit toward Vine Street Expressway/I-676 W/US-30 W via EXIT 22 toward Central Philadelphia; ramp lets you out on 15th Street, bear right on 15th heading into the city. As you pass City Hall (on left) stay right on 15th Street. End at 1501 Spruce Street (you will pass Chestnut, Samsom, Walnut, and Locust Sts.).

FROM THE EAST... In NJ, take Routes 70 or 38 towards Philadelphia. Take US-30 W toward Camden/Ben Franklin Bridge (toll bridge). After bridge, turn slight left to take the I-676 W/US-30 W ramp. Stay in the right-hand lane after merging onto I-676. Take the first exist to PA-611/Broad Street/Central Philadelphia; ramp lets you out on 15th Street, bear right on 15th heading into the city. As you pass City Hall (on left) stay right on 15th Street. End at 1501 Spruce St (you will pass Chestnut, Samsom, Walnut, and Locust Sts.).

FROM THE SOUTH... Take I-95 North to Philadelphia. Take the PA-611 N/Broad Street exit – Exit 17 – toward Pattison Avenue. Stay straight to go onto S. Broad Street/PA-611N, and go ~3.1 miles Turn left onto Spruce Street, and go 1 block. Restaurant on right corner at 15th Street.

FROM THE WEST... Take I-76 E toward Philadelphia. Exit left onto Vine Street Expressway/I-676 E/US-30 E via exit 344 toward Central Philadelphia. Take the exit toward Broad Street/Central Philadelphia. Take the 15th Street ramp toward Central Philadelphia. As you pass City Hall (on left) stay right on 15th Street.
