Brown Audio:

Harvard Audio (appears to require Sportspass):

A Brown win clinches an un-split Ivy title and the ECAC RS title for Cornell.

A tie clinches at least a split Ivy title for Cornell (depending on the outcome of Harvard@Dartmouth this Friday). I'm not sure how tiebreakers fall regarding the ECAC RS title in this case.

A Harvard win means Cornell needs Dartmouth to get at least a point on Friday to get a share of the Ivy title and needs at least a point or two in the North Country this weekend to secure the ECAC RS title.

(Yes, I'm lazy, but the tiebreakers all seem to involve Harvard and Vermont and Dartmouth and Brown and they're all playing each other this coming weekend.)

A Brown win also helps keep Brown a TUC.

Good point. And on top of that, Harvard sucks. So in summation, go Brown. (And not just down the toilet for a change.)

Regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, Cornell stays #6 in the PWR after the 3-2-1 bonus is applied. However, if Brown wins, Cornell keeps the comparison win with BC, 3-1. If Harvard wins, BC wins the comparison with Cornell 2-2 and a slightly higher RPI.

OK, I think I'm starting to see it. If Harvard finishes tied with Cornell on points, the top 4 is Cornell, Harvard, Colgate, and either Vermont or Dartmouth (the only way Brown could even theoretically sneak into the top 4 is by winning their last 3 games to tie Vermont at 26 points, and then this is moot). Head-to-head is even, second tiebreaker is record against top 4, Cornell's record vs. top 4 is 1-1-0 (Harvard) + 1-0-1 (Colgate) + either 1-1-0 (Dartmouth) or 1-0-1 (Vermont) , no worse than 3-2-1. Harvard's record vs. top 4 is 1-1-0 (Cornell) + 0-2-0 (Colgate) + whatever they wind up with against Dartmouth or Vermont, but in any event no better than 3-3-0.

Did I do that right?

Oh, god, I can see a looooooooooooooooooong thread here tonight. We care a little bit especially if Bruno can knock off the Cantabs. But mostly we're bored, bored, bored because Cornell isn't playing.

I know it wouldn't be good for their grades, but couldn't Cornell play a 49- not 29-game regular season, including tonight? With its own satellite TV channel?

It's Hyphen vs Apostrophe.

I'm sure it won't happen, but we can always root for both of them to get lit up tonight. Like 8-7 Brown. nut

Did you hear them whining about the fact that Sucks has so many assists?

Don't the referees make that decision?

If they do, that has got to be pretty hard to figure out. I ref intramurals here, and we have to tell the goal scorer, but that is easy to figure out. I don't think I would be able to tell you assists after a goal though.

Brown with a couple of good rushes, and Les Haggett misses and open net in the final minute. Period over, 1-0, with the Brown announcers creaming themselves over Harvard. :-(

That's not that crazy, especially if you consider McKee to be a hobey candidate. Hyphen has a better SV% (.947, i believe), and a very respectable GAA (around 1.6)

Beyond the Ivy title and potential Cleary Cup implications, this could be bad for our NCAA seeding. Brown is @ Vermont and @ Dartmouth for their last two games. If they lose this game and those two, a real possibility, their RPI is likely to fall to right around 0.500. They will then need to win their first round playoff series against a bottom feeder that would hurt their RPI unless it's a sweep, which probably won't even help their RPI. So Brown may need to make it to Albany to stay a TUC, and preserve 2 of our 8 TUC wins, unless they can come back tonight or at least split in northern New England. :-(

So go Brown and go Dartmouth this Friday.

H 3-0. Brown's no help. (And didn't they used to be the Bruins as well as the Bears?)

Okay, it's now up to Dartmouth to take down Harvard and give Cornell a tie for the Ivy title.

Kornel
Darmouth
Brom
Aquafresh
Sarah Lawrence
Onion

Anybody else remember the rest?

[OT] I think that's what some large fraction of the faculty said to President Summers yesterday. Although see also this week's Newsweek's "analysis" of Summers' difficulties. Of the constituencies - Harvard Corp., faculty, alumni, students, -- Newsweek says it's only the faculty who dislike him intensely, while students find he's open. If you want to see a different college with a president on a divisive mission, see today's WSJ story on Drexel and its president who wants everyone to remember Drexel is a business as well as a place of higher learning.

I've come to think of Bill as the Grandpa Simpson of the elynah forum: somewhat interesting (and entertaining) remarks, but rarely on topic.

"So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones..."

Edit: yes, I realize this is not on topic either :P
