Questions About Princeton

There are no tickets available through the Cornell office because Princeton never sent any. Some are saying that it is easy to get standing room tickets at the game. Is there danger of driving all the way there and not being able to get in?

No.

Happy to help. :-)

P.S. Seriously - if you're worried, show up a half hour early or more if you can. But hundreds of "season ticket holders" simply don't go to the games at Baker, and you'll likely not only be able to buy a standing room ticket, but sit in one of the many empty seats.

I think the basketball team is at Princeton the same night so there is that to fall back on. :-D

Standing room is fine and always available. We take a variable number of family and friends to the Princeton game so rather than get seats with the Cornell Club block and risk getting stuck with unused tickets, we just buy standing room at the gate. It has never, never, ever been a problem getting in, getting good seats, and if you so desire, sitting in the Cornell attacking zone each period. If you aren't sitting in the first row along the glass by the Princeton goal by late in the second period, you just aren't trying.

A couple dozen Cornellians dine beforehand, about 5 pm, at J B Winberie Restaurant & Bar (1 Palmer Sq E Princeton, 08542 609/921-0700) which is just off College Avenue, except in Princeton that would be Nassau Street. Food is fine and the Princetonians there are bemused to see so much red in one place. That's where we go. There may be other locales as well.

Baker Rink is the kind of rink you always imagined you'd be in if you played hockey for Amherst, Wesleyan, or Williams. It predates Lynah by at least a third of a century, almost all of those years losing years for Princeton.

Even at like 630ish tickets will still be available?

What about the game at Yale? Will that one sell out?

Yale almost always sells out if I recall correctly.

Seats at Yale are gone. I'd call to see if they're still selling standing room.

They are still selling standing room but you have to go in person to get it. No orders over the phone.

Seems to me last year I called Yale while driving from the Cape to New Haven (a Friday last year; don't know if the ticket office will be open Saturday) and they held the tickets for me at the Ingalls Rink box office.

No guarantees, but if past years are any indication, yeah.

At Princeton I'd be more worried about being unable to get tickets to a basketball game, if I were so inclined.

If you call the ticket office and ask, "Will tickets for standing room still be available half-hour before game time?," once the peals of laughter die down, the kindly Princeton person will ask, "You must be from Cornell?"

Tickets at Jadwin for Cornell-Princeton hoops are always available, too. Just don't try walking up for the Penn game.

That's because you have superpowers Al.

This year, we bought our block of 12 Yale tickets in October.

(Note to Jerseygirl: You're not returning our IM's re: tickets. If you don't get back to us soon, we're selling 'em. =p)

seats for Princeton game

Postings on the board are largely accurate. All you Cornell fans show up in droves and are largely accommodated.

It's an uncomfortable environment for the underdog home team -- hence:

This Princeton fan is willing to offer/sell his 3 tickets (on the glass, at the blue line, opposite the Cornell bench) at a rate only slightly above what Standing Room would cost you.

Let me know if you want to make arrangements before-hand.

D.

And he's trying to SELL (rather than give away) tickets!!!

[of course, it's only so he doesn't have to go through the trauma of enduring a game with....gasp....atmosphere, so it actually makes sense.]

Plenty of Princeton fans exist. They're just too genteel for this board. :-D

Is anyone planning on taking the 5:01 train from Penn Station (that's New York Penn Station, not Newark Penn Station :-D )?

Thanks.
