I was wondering how on Earth the officer thought he would ever keep his job until I realized [Q]University of North Dakota hockey defenseman Matt Greene failed a field sobriety test in Minnesota[/Q].

The officer probably got a promotion for that. :-D

Overall, his pending DUI charge, the affairs at Clarkson last year and this, etcetera, all make hockey players look like jerks and offset the good done by people like Bâby.

I scanned the article and didn't see his age listed. Technically, you're not supposed to be drinking until you're 21.

Interesting to see what ND does once his BAC comes back if it's over .08 or .10. Does the team suspend him then and there or does it wimp out and wait for the judicial process which effectively puts it over until the season is over. Since it's a team not a court of law, the team doesn't have to follow all the courtroom kinds of due process if it's convinced, say, that the BAC test wasn't tainted.

His bio on the North Dakota page says that he's a Junior but doesn't list his age. However, he graduated high school in 2001. This should make him of age at least.

Also, while he has only 6 points this year, he leads his team in penalty minutes and will clearly be missed if there are reamifications (sorry I had to). In actuallity he seems to be a strong player having represented the USA in the World Juniors in 2003 and being a team captain. This should be tough for a captain to explain to his coach, eh?

USCHO lists his birthdate as 13 May 1983. So he's over 21. Which was implicit in the article - it clearly would've mentioned underage if he were.

They have now updated the article to mention his age in the 2nd paragraph of the story.

"He does not have a listed telephone number in Grand Forks." Sorry, Lynah Faithful.

One interesting thing about online sites is they see reader feedback right away (if they'r elooking) and they can shape the story to get more stuff in. Like the guys age. You'd assume he's of drinking age but then it's always possible the writer just forgot to put it in. Mistakes do happen in writing.

Either that, or reporters can't do simple math.... ;)

The paragraph about his age was likely edited out, since you can do pretty much anything to a wire story.
