I just put it on the radio a few minutes ago. Sounds like a lot of action, but no goals. Harvard dodged a pair of 2-on-1 breaks moments ago. I think I heard them say that the SOG stat was something like 35-31 NM.
1:15 to go.

Man, shootouts stink...if the team you're rooting for loses At least it goes into the books as a tie but they probably won't get a shot at Minnesota now

Yeah, the announcers sounded pretty bummed that they'll probably play Merrimack tomorrow.

According to the USCHO recap, Harvard had 15 players on antibiotics in the past week with some kind of respiratory illness. Tough game to lose.

Al,
per uscho recap: "Harvard (9-3-2) was limited in practice this week by illness. Donato described as many as 15 players on antibiotics for a respiratory ailment that swept the team, but refused to use that as an out."
Sounds like a bad pizza hut trip. maybe that flu will cycle back to cambridge in early january, which would be great as long as i don't catch it.

And Minnesota wins the late game, so Harvard goes all the way to Minnesota to play another Boston team. That kinda sucks.

Right. Try telling Harvard when they face-off tomorrow against Merrimack that they didn't really lose tonight's game.

If you need to get the flu in order for us to win at Harvard in January, well, I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

I agree wholeheartedly. Mike, you need to get the flu and then give it to the Harvard team BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE!

I'm pretty sure he means "by any means necessary", but yeah Mike, you need to take one for the team (literally) here.

Playing their back-up sieve, Harvard loses to Merrimack, 6-4. Sic transit gloria...top ten ranking, too.

Harvard outshot Merrimack 40-19 in the consolation but gave up four power play goals on five penalties. The other goalie, Justin Tobe, played for Harvard. Note the Cantabs came from 6-2 down to score twice in the last 2-1/2 minutes for the final 6-4 score. That's tenacity.
Of course that still a loss, too.

Interesting that Donato seemed to have taken an out of conference game fairly lightly. Yes, it's a consolation game, but isn't it still possible that Harvard will sit on the bubble come the NCAAs?
I understand, giving your safety sieve some game experience is important, but still... To me, it also indicates that Donato, and therefore the Harvard team, showed very little respect for Merrimack, and ended up with a L.
To contrast, Schafer seems to take all regular season games fairly seriously, and almost always uses the strongest line-up in game situations. To be fair, in the past, there were times when I questioned such a decision by him.

Since he has a better pulse on the team's physical and mental health, I'm willing to give Teddy the benefit of the doubt here. If 15 players are on antibiotics it may have been more important to rest unhealthy kids than risk injury trying to win this one game.
I wouldn't write off Harvard based on their 4th place result. Will they be gone from the top 10? Yes. Will they be back? Barring injuries, I wouldn't be surprised.

Half the Harvard team was sick. Maybe in Minnesota it was dairy food allergies?
Don't know how much you can blame the backup goalie (who the Crimson said has played well in earlier games when he played) when the team allows 4PPGs in 5 opportunities.
On the other hand, that is useful game experience. I wonder if Cornell will go to the No. 2 to play a game in January - February against someone we can assuredly beat, like a, say ... um, who can we assuredly beat? Yale? Princeton? Union?
