So what does anyone know about external AM antennas? I can get WHCU, but barely. For some time I've been thinking about an external antenna, but I know zip. I feel badly , since I was an engineer at CU, but 36 years in medicine has zapped my knowledge. Anybody who can help?

Jim, Check out [ccrane.com]. That's one of the premier places to find a good AM Antenna. Bill

My father uses the non-powered SelectAntenna to get WFAN from Lake George, NY. Not terribly impressive since WFAN broadcasts on a 50KW clear channel, but it goes from barely audible to, well... as good as AM gets.
Cheers,
Kyle

Jim,
I bought a cheap clone of the Select A Tenna and/or Terk from Radio Shack. (They were closed out and are no longer available.) Both of these companies have been around forever.
My cheap antenna helps but reception varies here - outside of Troy.

Don't know if it helps much, but the external AM antenna that I got with my stereo was simply some thin wire wrapped around in a loop. Picks WHCU up really well, but then again, I'm right next to the station.

[Further OT] CCrane [www.ccrane.com] is also a good source of LED flashlights which run almost forever on a couple batteries.
