The past few years, the folks at the Everblades College Classic have been piping in each school's fight song after a goal. This is cool, but they've been a little confused about which song to use; for Cornell they've used the New Cornell Fight Song and "Fight For Cornell". This year I propose we send them a CD of Voices of the Faithful and ask them to play track 7 or track 64 after Cornell goals. Who's with me?

Exactly how many people do you expect it to take to send them a CD?

Is that a trick question?

Or possibly a joke begging for a punchline? "How many Cornellians does it take..."

Yeesh, tough room. At least I can make sure we don't all doing independently and burying them under a pile of CDs.
Does everybody at least think it's a good idea? Or does anybody have a better suggestion?

Suggestion: If you want specific music played, have somebody who represents the Pep Band send the CD under official cover. And maybe send a courtesy copy to Craig Brush '71 ('70?) who oversees the TECO arena [TECO is a power company] and got the tournament going.
If you have any thought of spending the Christmas-New Year's week in southern Florida on the Gulf Coast side, the tournament is sensational. And if the reason for your being down there is being a dutiful (grand)son or daughter, just about the time you're getting sick of eating dinner every day at 5:15 pm with the in-laws, the Everblandes lifts you out of the despair of being a loving and dutiful son/daughter. And, oh year, there's a huge shopping mall next door for the family members who don't give a rap about hockey.

FYI... like most sports arenas, TECO has been renamed.
It is now Germain Arena. Here is the contact info from the webhome page.
11000 Everblades Parkway • Estero, Florida 33928 • 239-948-PUCK (7825)
All information copyright Germain Arena, 2001- 2002 - Powered by Synergy Networks
I too would like to hear davy after the cornell goals. If lobby the arena's PA people fails, and someone has a speaker, we can use the ringtone on my cell phone (it is quite unique here in boilermaker-land).
I also agree that having a complimentary copy of the pep band's cd coming from some sort of official channel (be it the pep band, the Hockey office, or the local alumni club) would increase the chances of having davy played.
see at the everblades tourney...

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I prefer the New Fight Song to Davy and enjoyed hearing it on the CSTV broadcasts last year. But that's just me talkin'...

Thanks, Grant. Don't forget to tip them off to which track to play.

Grant,
I've got Craig Brush's email address after meeting him down there at the 2000 tournament. To speed the process, I'll email him and copy you - suggesting that he tell you to whom the CD should be sent.
By the way, how can I mail order a CD?
JTW,
Good thought. It was definitely bugging me last year that they weren't playing Davy. Oldtimers like me don't even know the new songs.

This is all well and good, but perhaps this should come from someone who actually represents the hockey program, like Coach Schafer or Anita Brenner the Associate Director?

I would think the Pep Band manager represents Cornell quite well. If you ask Mike, it will probably be one more thing foisted off on Sue Detweiler, and my suspicion is she is not someone who is underworked.

Sue Detzer?
