Thank goodness the video was out. That would have been tough to watch.

It was bad enough listening--my audio cut out right after Weinstein said "rebound and score".

Przepriorka gets is his first goal of the season with the game winner. Wow. Final shots were 30-27 as Cornell couldn't get a shot off in OT. Yuck.

At least the music now coming over the audio feed from DC is good and angry and suits my current mood.

what a rough weekend for the team. the last two weekends actually. these losses/ties can help toughen a team and help them learn from mistakes early so as not to make them later in the season. tough two weeks for cornell when hahvahd beats bc and brown beats duluth...

I was almost happy that Dartmouth won as Cornell did not deserve a tie the way they played tonight. They were absolutely brutal in the first period and improved in the second period and the third period they played well. It does not matter who they play, they are going to need to come out and execute for 60 minutes. Cornell has a better team than Dartmouth and nearly got away with winning despite their poor play early but couldn't score on numerous third period opportunities. Somebody needs to step up and start finishing on a regular basis. Cornell does not have any game-breakers right now and that was the difference tonight. Dartmouth only had a few good scoring chances tonight, yet Stempniak and Przepriorka both showed they could finish.
Extremely disappointing weekend, but I was at both games and can say with absolute confidence that Cornell was superior to both teams. Their preparation and execution are both terrible, however. They also lacked intensity and cohesiveness tonight. It's early and I'm confident that they will beat the crap out of both Vermont and Dartmouth at Lynah and that they will get very good by mid-season.

Ari, by what measure is Cornell superior? I'm not challenging the assessment, not having seen the teams this year. I'm just curious whether you are referring to the raw talent, the potential of the individual players? Is the teamwork better, but just not showing results? The final scores and the shots on goal, or even the penalty minutes, don't suggest a distinctly superior team.

honestly, I don't think we missed him that much. A lot of our scoring chances were not created through grind-'em-out-then-find-Moulson-in-the-slot stuff that we are known for. We'll see what the guys at the game say but from the video stream it looked like we opened up our offense at the beginning of the 2nd.

From the USCHO recap:
Each team was playing without key contributors. Dartmouth's David Jones was out with the flu, while Cornell's leading scorer Matt Moulson and Mitch Carefoot went down Friday night against Colgate.
Come on now.

How about Jessiman and Moulson and Jones and Carefoot. Does that even things up a little?

I thought that Cornell was a better team top to bottom. With both teams playing at their best, I think Cornell has a definitive edge.

Really? I wasn't at the games. I just saw a photo in today's Sun with the caption: "Freshman forward Matt McKeown and the men's icers had a tie and a loss in conference play this weekend."
Then again, I should have suspected that the Sun's on crack, since that photo has Iggulden in it.

I sent the author a message earlier today about the inaccuracies, and it has been corrected in the recap

Not to excuse mistakes of identification, but Cornell (and other colleges and pro teams) could do a better job of putting jersey numbers on more places. Sometimes there's no jersey number on the front or on the sides of the helmet. Maybe the player's arm is at the right angle to the camera and you can see his sleeve patch, but maybe it's obscured by a defender draped around him, or maybe the jersey sleeve is wrinkled and you can't tell if that's a 6 or an 8.
