With Colorado College defeating North Dakota 3-2 (OT), and with both Brown and SUCKS' loss tonight, Cornell and CC remain the only undefeated team in the nation. Of course, we've only played 3 games against not-so-strong opponents, but still, winning the games we should be winning is definitely good. Hopefully, we can keep the winning streak going against Brown.

They looked very good tonight too. The 2-0 score doesn't quite fairly reflect their defensive performance and overall control of the game today. Don't want to get too excited yet, but certainly can't complain so far.

And Cornell could be 3-0-0 with a 0.00 GAA instead of 0.67.

I think the big test(s) will come next weekend on the road against a much better opponent.

Definitely don't get too excited about the whole "last undefeated team" thing. With the late Ivy start Cornell has had this title a number of times over the last ten years or so. Doesn't necessarily mean anything for how the season will turn out (see 97-98: 4-0-0 and 5-0-1 start, finish at 15-16-1, lost in the playin game at Placid).

I remember the big turning point of that season. Cornell was ranked like 6th in the country and Yale came in and won 2-1 in OT on one of the worst turnovers I have ever seen by Jason Daley. He like passed it up the middle coming from behind his net with no one even in the zone except for a Yale player cruising through the middle. Later that season I think Cornell lost 11-0 at Yale.

With the limited number of games Cornell played, I'm not getting all that excited. What I am happy about (for bragging rights sake) is that with all teams except CC suffering a loss this early in the season, Cornell's undefeated season record will most likely stand for another season.

Of course, I am pretty excited about how the team seems to be playing considering it's only their 3rd game.

[q]please dont remind me of that trip to placid[/q]Not my favorite memory either...driving back and forth to Placid in one day... cheating death as we sped over the icy mountain roads trying to make it to the rink by game time...

Like the first Sacred Heart game, of course, that road Yale game NEVER HAPPENED.

That turnover is also indelibly etched in my mind as well. One of my earlier games, and I was pumped for the up ice rush, and then it was all over so quickly. :(

A couple of us were talking about this in the game chat, but I think it deserves mentioning here...as far as I can tell, this is the first time in Cornell history that the hockey team and football team have had back-to-back 3-0 combined weekends...makes me wish I was back in Ithaca...on the other hand, the low is 45 tonight here in LA, and I think that's a low estimate...

You mean the time Age made the Kessle Run in under 12 parsecs?

I remember coming downstairs that morning and thinking "Why the hell is Keith sleeping on my sofa?"
