How is it that a team gets by far the most first place votes and ends up in 2nd? Must have been a lot of 5ths and 6ths.

I would say strength of recruiting class and returning players, and another year with McKee in the nets. Would you rank anyone below them differently?

Simple: the pollsters, looking to fill in their lists, grab, in order, the top few teams from the recently announced ECAC media poll. Viola...enough poll points to crack the top 15, even though not 1 thing has been proven on any frozen water. Happens every year.

most of those teams ahead and behind us will begin play much earlier than we do anyway. look for DM and us to drop accordingly.

Well, I guess it all depends on how the pollsters balance last year vs. 2004-05 projections, but I'd start with the team that finished ahead of us in the standings last year, and maybe the defending ECAC champions as well -- and that's just from our conference...I don't know enough about the others to argue for their placement ahead of us.
Not that I don't like seeing us there coming off such a disappointing end of the year and the loss of a few key components -- it just struck me as a little high to start the year. But here's hoping we play like #13 coming out, and only get better

Looks like the Harvard Effect (pre-season hype) works to our advantage this year.
Now let's hope we don't do with it what Harvard does each Winter....
