The second phase of the Hobey Baker nominations has begun! Don't forget to vote daily! Who should we nominate for 3rd?

Vesce and Moulson are the only Cornellians that made it to the 2nd phase.
Stuff for Hobey

Stuff early, stuff often.

I propose we make a ballot-swapping agreement with fans of another ECAC team. (If it's good enough for Edwards and Kucinich...) The other ECAC nominees are Danis (Brown), Blight (Clarkson), FitzRandolph (SLU), Welch (Hahvahd), and Trowbridge (Yale). Or we could vote for the guy from Niagara or the guy from UConn.

Please, not Danis. After that whole yanndanis.com thing, I just can't stand to vote for him in good conscience, deserving or not.
Are we planning on voting for Vesce first and Moulson second, or what? We should at least try to organize that much.

I'll be damned if I'm going to vote for Noah "flipped us off in Placid" Welch.

(And really, what would ballot-swapping with Harvard "fans" accomplish, anyway?)

I'll make a deal with you guys. I'll vote for Vesce and Moulson if the Cornell fans who were forced to buy tcikets to the RPI@Harvard game cheer for RPI.

Actually, I missed one. Clarkson has Chris Blight and Matt Faulkner. I for one would be for making an alliance with the Techers.

How come they don't have the current standings up?

I love it... it's like "Survivor [insert roman numeral for "umpteen" here]: Hobey Baker"

I was under the impression that they had a rabid following from the moment they started the team. Is this wrong?

I really don't know. I guess they're the only D-I team in the South, but then again, when did the South get hockey fans?

A bunch of people I know who work at my company travel to Huntsville on a semi-regular basis. According to them, the city isn't exactly typical of the South. There are loads of transplants because there's a lot of technical work centered around NASA Marshall. So it's never surprised me too much that UAH has a hockey team and it wouldn't surprise me if the fans were rather devoted.
Personally I haven't been there since the '70s, so I can't speak from experience. I can say that the Space Center Exhibit at Marshall is worth seeing, if you ever find yourself down in that corner of the world.

The south gets hockey fans when us yankees relocate for school or work. . . DisplacedCornellian knows what i'm talking about.
P.S. They really, honestly, seriously tailgate for the Hurricanes down here.

Yeah, there's a serious lack of college hockey south of the mason dixon line..... the Norfolk Admirals are a poor substitute.

Count your blessings. There's a serious lack of ice on the Mississippi Delta (thank you, #@$%@ing Hornets). Tulane's club team has to play 100+ miles away in Lafayette.

I like the fact that the top two second-place vote-getters are teammates of the top two first-place vote getters. (This is why I vote for the Cornell nominees daily; it's clear this sort of polling doesn't deserve to be taken seriously.)

I'm surprised that there aren't more candidates/votes for players from the top 5 teams.

While I have to agree with you, I did get to see Parris Duffus play for the Admirals back in '93 or '94.

About the same time D1 goalies started coming out of Texas?
