We do our part to achieve a first in the ECAC as all 4 QF series go the distance. 2004 was very close, though. Not that anybody wants to be reminded of it. (Sorry.)

Harvard @ Dartmouth starts things off on Sunday with a 4 pm start. The other 3 games have 7 pm face-offs.
Don't forget to "spring ahead" tonight and turn your clocks ahead an hour.

This doesn't affect us at all, but the goofers are currently down 2-0 to the Alaska Seawolves with 4:18 left in the 3rd. Alaska leads the series 1-0, and are poised to send Minnesota home for the season (they are tied at 17 in the PWR). It would be nice to have a lot of disappointed gopher fans in St. Paul/FF.
It is a final: Minnesota eliminated from the WCHA playoffs and I believe any hopes of a NC$$ bid.

I wonder if it is mathematically possible for Yale, Union, Dartmouth, RPI and Cornell to all make the NC$$ this year.

Hartzell in goal tomorrow night instead of Clarke?

Latest PWR (10:30 Sat night). Dartmouth is hanging on at #15T, and RPI at #14.
The AHA winner gets #16 (knocking out one of the #15T). If Cornell wins the ECACs we would probably burst Dartmouth's and/or RPI's bubble. Other tourney upsets also hurt RPI and Dartmouth.

The Daily Sun is reporting "Devin's goal was never reviewed. Video staff did not have equipment ready to look at the play." Can anyone shed some light?

IJ has more.
The closest the Big Red came to scoring came late in the first period when a shot beat Hartzell and was ruled to have clanked off the post to his left.
The officiating crew opted to use video to review the play. After a lengthy delay of six or seven minutes, the officials returned and confirmed the original call of no goal.
But there was a twist.
"It wasn't reviewed, because our people who were supposed to set it up didn't get there and get it set up," Schafer said. "So there was no review. It's a moot point. That's why the players talked to the referees afterward, there was video tonight for the rest of the game because we didn't have it available to them, which is disappointing."

It is really sad that the video equipment (or operator) has failed again when it was needed. I was right above the net tonight on the non-goal and my initial reaction was that it went in. That puck made no clang of pipe sound and came out funny, looked like it caught the very inside edge of the net. Could've been wishful thinking, but eitherway it would've been nice to provide the refs with something to look at.

From where I was standing in Section A it looked like a goal (and I had a pretty good side view). The video review problem explains why it took so long for the refs to come back out on the ice, we were wondering what was going on there.

Wasn't there a similar situation a couple of years ago when the video replay was not available and a call went against Cornell? It just seems ridiculous that we are still having these problems.

And, alas, the Redcast / B2Live video feed and replay was inconclusive. Of course its resolution would probably miss a reactor melting away into the Sea of Japan.ebilmes

It is also the second time, since Quinnipiac joined ECAC Hockey, that a team has had three shutouts in the ECAC Hockey Tournament, as Princeton also accomplished the feat in 2008.
Glad to hear Cornell's three shutouts last year in the Tournament apparently don't count.

To whom does the video operator report (assuming it's his/her responsibility to oversee)? Is this an athletic department employee? Or is it the responsibility of the refs to check the equipment before the game to make sure it is working? In the NFL, the refs check the video replay equipment before every game to ensure it works.

the ECAC has a pretty poor idea on how to make the video system work . the people who run this stuff report to the ECAC not the school as that would be a conflict of interest..
its a known issue that could be resolved easily of the school wanted to put some more effort behind it.

Not sure where the conflict would originate. If you had the school install the system, the refs check it before the game, and you have the refs making the decision on the goal, I can't see how that's problematic.
