Upadated 3/8/09
Current Bracket:
---------------------------
Yale (32)
Brown (10)
Cornell (29)
RPI (13)
Princeton (28)
Union (20)
St. Lawrence (26)
Quinnipiac (21)
Home team is on top. Best of three, 3/13-3/15
=============================
Original post:
There are a lot of predictions out tonight about this week's games:
The votes are:
Harvard 3 Brown 0
Colgate 3 Quinnipiac 0
Union 2 Clarkson 1
Dartmouth 3 RPI 0
The unanimous pick of #10 Colgate over #7 Quinnipiac is interesting.
I think Clarkson has been playing better hockey than Union lately, but they don't always play well away from Cheel.
If anyone finds more predictions, I can add them to this post.

I can't say I'm shocked at these picks. Ken Schott rarely picks against Union or RPI unless faced with a pretty obvious situation like RPIs, very much a homer in the past so I'll write that Union pick off and consider it a 1-1 tie
I'm surprised that Colgate is a unanimous pick, but I also expect them to win. Also not surprised that the Clarkson-Union game is a split, nearly everyone picked it to go three games, and when that happens, well, one bounce might determine the whole thing.

I agree with the consensus picks, except I don't see Union beating Clarkson. From what I saw up in Potsdam, the Golden Knights can play at a much higher level than the Dutchmen. A Clarkson series win with a Colgate upset gives us a crack at the Golden Knights.

Unfortunatley, we (Clarkson) do not play well at Union. I was at the game on Saturday and it was one of the hardest hitting college games I have seen in a while. It will be a war.ebilmes

But would we play you? It seems I ask the same question every year, do they re-seed? If they do re-seed, why do they have the winner of Union/Clarkson playing Yale in the brackets?
I too, would love a shot at you guys.

The unanimous pick of #10 Colgate over #7 Quinnipiac is interesting.
The Skating Deer Ticks have been in the toilet lately, and Colgate played their second half about as well as we did. I also can't shake the feeling that 'Gate is better than its record, given what they did against Cornell.

The ECAC does reseed. If Harvard, Dartmouth, Colgate and Clarkson win in the first round, the bracket would be:
Yale (32)
Colgate (17)
Cornell (29)
Clarkson (20)
Princeton (28)
Dartmouth (24)
St. Lawrence (26)
Harvard (24)
The Harvard-Dartmouth tie breaker is head to head record (1-0-1) in favor of Harvard.

Fixed it back. The Fighting Deer Ticks are Quinnipiac's teams in the non-hockey sports; c.f. St. Lawrence.
Note that the women's team is the Skating Doe Ticks.

Note that the women's team is the Skating Doe Ticks.
A) "Deer" is gender-neutral, so there's no reason you'd change it to "Doe."
B) In any case, you're changing the gender of the wrong thing. What you'd need would be the female form of "Tick".

The quarterfinal bracket is very different from the predicted one.
Dartmouth was set back by team rowdy boy Joe Stejskal who took a 5 minute Hitting from Behind plus a Game Misconduct in the first period of the second game. They also have the excuse that they are at the end of the winter trimester, with exams coming up.
Harvard seemed like they wanted to end their season early.

How much of Harvard's demise can be attributed to Mike Clemente's goal tending?
For the season:
Clemente (4-9-2) 2.6254, 0.932
Rosen (1-11-3) 3.9316, 0.900
and against Harvard:
Clemente: (2-0) 0.00, 1.00
Rosen: (0-0-2) 2.00, 0.953
For the season:
Clemente (4-9-2) 2.6254, 0.932
Rosen (1-11-3) 3.9316, 0.900
and against Harvard:
Clemente: (2-0) 0.00, 1.00
Rosen: (0-0-2) 2.00, 0.953

Harvard really didn't seem to challenge Clemente much. Props to the guy for shutting them out for two nights -- he literally could not have been better -- but it was an assisted suicide.
Fisher, OTOH, flat out saved Q in game three.

INCH is predicting Princeton will repeat as ECAC Champions:
Check the fine print at the bottom of the page.
I don't agree with that prediction. One thing that will be different this year at Albany is that the consolation game should be more competitive since it will have Pairwise implications.

Can I bitch about having to pay B2 instead of having video for the quarterfinals included in Redcast?
Bitch bitch bitch
Kyle, you forgot the pictures we can get for free .
I guess my suggestion to the ECACHL went over like a lead balloon.
I would have paid $40-45 dollars for a playoff package that included access to ALL playoff games, both live and on-demand. However, it isn't worth it to pay up to $44 just to see Cornell play this weekend and next weekends finals.
Oh well, here's hoping there aren't any issues with REDCAST audio tonight.

From past experience, Cornell is the only team that travels in >200 numbers. Should be fine getting tickets at the door. Hopefully this will change, because it definitely is a lot more fun having other fans to cheer against.

Sections 117 and 118. There is a sign that says that tickets purchased for both days will get seats in 118 and tickets being purchased for just one of the sessions will be in 117 but I have no idea if that policy is being put into practice.

SLU can bring a good crowd - at least they do for their regular season RPI game. Who knows about Yale - they've never been here.
Yale had three fans at the recent RPI game in Troy, but one of them can't make it this weekend. He's busy setting up a track team in NYC. I hope that all four schools bring their bands.
Yale and Cornell can have a South Park duel with "Uncle F*cka" vs "Kyle's Mom".

Will our band be there? With the squeakball tourney at the same time, will Andy and the boys spring for two trips?

Does the question even need to be asked? The answer, of course, is yes. Last year was more difficult when we had sent bands to Men's March Madness, Albany, and Women's March Madness.

The pep band is self-supported (read: alumni and friends of the band). There is no financial support from Athletics for the trips.
Interestingly, there is no cost to the band for the basketball tournament - the NCAA covers the expenses. Not true for hockey or lacrosse, unfortunately.

Sorry, I just remembered the sad showing last year, but I forgot that the women made the tourney, too.
Just glad it won't happen again.

Hey, we alumni did our best. But yes, it wasn't up to the pep band's usual level of excellence. Thankfully a good number of undergrad bandies got off the plane from Anaheim and made it to Albany in time for Saturday's consolation game before going to Bridgeport for the Women's hoops game.

Is there an "indifference" smiley?
