That goal was Kennedy's fault. After he got thrown out of the faceoff circle, he went to stand in the slot. And when the puck dropped, he immediately charged forward. He probably thought Yale was going to pass it back to their point man. But they didn't. They put the shot on net right away and it was already too late for Kennedy to turn back to clear the rebound.

Good first shift by Mugford, Scali and Punches.. they kept it in Yale's zone and had a few shots.
Tyler also was a very good 1st intermission interview with Jason. Very well spoken.

Scrivens can't control his rebounds tonight He's not turning them aside to the board. He's letting them sit in front of the crease.

If you played hockey, you would know that that is exactly what Kennedy is supposed to do on the faceoff. The defenseman that lines up next to him at the center side of the faceoff dot is supposed to cover the winger that is in front of them, and the winger is supposed to charge out and cover the defenseman. This is the textbook way to play a faceoff.

So who, in the textbook, is supposed to have cleared that rebound?
Edit: I just watched the replay again. It looked like everyone moved forward. Kennedy, being the last man, had everyone to his right in his sight and decided to play by the "textbook" and went up as well I guess. As a result, we had a huge gaping fluted hole in front of the crease. If someone else didn't play by the textbook here, Kennedy sure did not notice that and did not make the appropriate adjustment to the mistake.

What? That they're good? opportunistic? That they're leading by one in the second period of the first game between these teams and one of 10 Ivy games for each school? I'm confused.

Its not like that argument is going to change whether he lets the guy past him and gives up a goal or takes the guy down and gets a penalty. I don't blame him b/c he was flat footed and puck hopped, and the yale guy was already skating that way. You just have to know when to take a penalty at the smart time.

It's not any one formation or situation that killed us it was not moving our feet and Yale out hustling us most of the game. Minor problem of playing I believe first game this year with 5 D-man instead of 6.

Not only did Yale out-hustle us, but I don't think this year's team is good enough to figure out how to respond to a quick forechecking team. (The secret is playing in crisp passing and playing in position.)
P.S. Maybe we won't lose again tonight if somebody has the gumption to start the game thread before the game is actually ten minutes in.
