Word from the Hockey Office this afternoon is that tonight's Skate with the Big Red event is still on, despite the wintry weather that shut down all of the area's school districts. After being cooped up with the kids in the house all day, getting them to Lynah seems like a great idea.

Much awaited results of the skills competition:
Fastest skater - Justin Krueger (Defeating Jordan Kary in the finals)
Accuracy - Tyler Roeszler (4 of 5)
Hardest Shot - Tyler Mugford - 94 MPH
6-shot (shooter - most goals) - Blake Gallagher (defeating Krueger in a tie-breaker)
6-shot (goalie - most saves) - Dan DiLeo
Shot-out (Last standing) - Joe Devin. Joe scored on two sick breakaway moves, including his first where he fell to the ground as if he lost his balance, pushed the puck across the ice with his hand to his stick that was along the ice to deflect it into the goal. The second was a new-classic pick the puck up with the stick and whirl around the back lacrosse style. I have the second on video, but not the first and will post at some point.
Overall a fun event.
