With the CC tie, we pass them in the KRACH and are (for the moment) #3. Also, with the CC and Maine results, we are all alone at #2 in the PWR (at the moment).

Hmmm. At 10:24 CST, USCHO has us in 3rd, still losing comparisons to Maine, CC, and UND. UND wins the comparison on RPI by .0002 - pretty much comes down to who blinks first! The top two non-TUC teams are, you guessed it, Clarkson at .4999 and Brown at .4956. If those two were TUCs, we'd take the comparison with CC. Let's Go Tech! Go Bruno!

Unfortunately, Cornell's KRACH Str of Sched has dropped to 10th, as posted on USCHO. And, NoDak is 11th. I guess pretty soon we won't be able to pick on the Sue about playing Canisius.

I'm sure it was a joke. The other NoDak joke being "the Fighting Snot," after an unfortunate Seahawks-like color scheme in the '80's.

Yeah, Western results improved CC's SOS enough to move them back ahead of us in KRACH, but by a ridiculously slim margin: 1157/1155. That gives them a HHWP against us of .5004. (Their RRWP, which is the analog of RPI, but varies over a much wider range, is .0002 better than ours.)

BTW, Bell already has 3 career goals (including 2 in a game at SLU). So, it's likely that he was playing forward at the end of the Union game to rest some of the other guys.
Also, Chris Abbott didn't dress for the RPI game (and T. Bell took his spot in warm-ups), so I'm guessing that our backup forward for the trip (Hynes?) couldn't go, but our backup defenseman (Gleed) could. However, I didn't see Bell play as a forward (except maybe on the kill) during the RPI game.

Yes, I admit, I came up with it on the spot, and it was late.
I'm surprised I don't see more NoDak haters calling them the Sue, but maybe it's not as funny as I thought it was.

Minny fans have called NoDak "a team named Sue" (c.f., Shel Silverstein poem) for ages.
Adam announced Bell as playing forward even strength on several shifts down the stretch. Mike Milbury used to play his defensemen at forward to punish them for thinking too offensive mindedly.
OTOH, Brian tried to play Ryan Hughes at defense.

The last D-man I remember being called upon to fill in at forward on a regular basis was Chad Wilson. We did have a period in the late 90s where we were pretty thin on the blueline and a couple of forwards got moved back, although their identities escape me at the moment.

Al, I think you're right about Gregory.
Also, did Knopp play defense on occasion? Or did I just think he could handle it if called upon?
For some reason, I think Larry Pierce might have taken a turn or two on offense, but I could be mistaken. And maybe Jason Dailey?
As for Ryan Hughes, did he actually try to play defense or was it just playing the point on the powerplay? In my mind, that's special teams, not defense.

Brian played Jason Vogel on defense for about half a season (92-93, ouch), not Ryan. Which actually wasn't all that bad a move, considering how few defensemen we had who were worthy of the name back then.
Josh, please explain what the CENSORED is happy about that thought? I remember those days well and would rather not

Dailey definitely played forward a couple games. He seemed to like even when he was supposed to be playing D. He loved those end to end runs. Problem was when he turned it over and no one was covering back....
