Up now: [www.collegehockeynews.com]

With wins by all the favorites, we landed at #20 or so, so I doubt we can manage an at-large bid. (I got us to #14 but only with two wins, which would give us an auto-bid.)

I got us to 12th by having all the favorites win except us. We'd tie with Minny, but we win on RPI and pair comparison.

The good news is we'd stay east in Miami's bracket (probably Albany).

12th is important, assuming the committee is still slavishly sticking to making 9-12 all 3-seeds and 13-16 all 4-seeds.

6 of one...We'd still play Minny.

If we win in Albany, we're basically rooting for autobids from teams below us, with caveats.

If NMU and BU win their respective tournaments, we want CC to do well in the WCHA in order to avoid a trip to Colorado Springs. (CC losing indicates that they could slide to #5, and we, as a #12, would be heading out to Colorado.) Vermont doesn't help us, because a win by them seems to vault them over us in the PWR.

I've found a very aesthetically pleasing scenario under which Minnesota and Minnesota State (Mankato) are bounced and we end with this bracket:

#13 BU
#4 Michigan

#5 UNH
#12 Cornell

in Worcester. I'm just hypothesizing, but I think that, in the end, Clarkson losing hurt us. I can find no scenario under which we pop to #10 or #9, avoiding this year's fearsome top 6 in the first round.

I guess we don't automatically get sent to Albany (technically hosted by the ECACHL) if we make the the big dance?

No, we probably automatically get sent West to play in a bracket with the #1 seed playing at home :D

I think that's written into the handbook.

Yeah, I know, I know. At least it would be a bit easier to swallow this time as a low seed. When we had a top-10 team it seemed like a grave injustice.

Well, the clear answer back then was to sandbag our way into the proper seed. Any team can be a #1 seed, but only the truly great teams can manipulate their way into the correct #3 seed. All you have to do is lose your quarterfinal series, to, say, a team like Colgate... whistle

We're making our rounds through the WCHA rinks. CC is next on the list. smashfreak

No...we'll still whine enough to make it seem like a grave injustice this time, too. demented

But we're DUE for a good placement!

Assuming we win out, and we stay at about our current PWR ranking, we're most likely the 14 seed. As long as UNH doesn't move up to 1 or 2, and CC does stay 1 or 2, we could very well stay east.

E.g. CC plays in the Springs, the higher ranked of Michigan or Miami goes to Madison, UNH goes to Worcester, and the lower ranked of Michigan or Miami goes to Albany. This is especially so if it winds up with Miami as #4, because then they can say that Albany and MAdison are equidistant from Miami.

Great barn, though, and CS is a gorgeous place (even with the sprawl and the megachurches).
