SLU v. Quinnipiac
Clarkson v. Dartmouth
This is tough for me. I hate Dartmouth. I don't want QU to win in their second year in the league even though they may be a tough out in NCAA play. I don't want Clarkson to win for a bunch of reasons including the desire to have two ECAC teams make the NCAAs. I guess that leaves SLU who I can still see celebrating back in '01...
I do like the potential of SLU v. CCT round 4 in Rochester for a Frozen Four bid.
Anyone care to convince me who I should root for next week?

As I think I properly laid on the "Out of Town Scores" thread, this is the best for the conference...
Now the ECAC's best shot at 2 in the NCAAs is SLU beating Clarkson (or anyone beating Clarkson for that matter) in the final. There is an outside shot that a Clarkson loss to Dartmouth, SLU win over QU, followed by a Dartmouth championship would get 3 teams in. SLU is on the bubble though, they need at least another win to stay safe.

Will you be doing that Australian rooting, or just the plain old US kind?

I'm leaning for Q. Of course, I grew up one town away and have known the school for a while... they're like my old friends .
I wouldn't be upset with any of the above though (except maybe Clarkson and that *only* because it would be the only way the ECAC only gets one NCAA bit - not against Clarkson on any fundamental reasons).
At least Harvard's not there.

Agreed - it's nice to see Clarkson ascendant again, but I'd prefer two ECAC teams go to the dance. So I'm fine with Clarkson making the finals, but I prefer if they lose. No preference between SLU and QU.
That said, I'm going to take the weekend off from hockey. I'm going to the Frozen Four in four weeks, I've been away from home for ten days, and I've got a lot to do.

SLU. Someone in the family (aka the little brother) ought to be able to go on a crazy road trip.

As bitter as it tastes to me now, I'd like Q to win. If we're going to lose, I'd like it to be to the eventual champions. If Q just falls flat on their faces in Albany, this weekend will be just that much worse.

Q whined and dove a bit too much for my tastes.
Dartmouth, I guess. Go Ivy League and all.

Once the pairings for next week are nailed down and You Are The Committee (accept no substitutes!) appears on CHN, it'll be easy to play with these scenarios. In the meantime, I plugged Dartmouth beating SLU in the ECAC final and all other games being won by the higher seed into [slack.net] and ended up with SLU at number 13, so three ECAC teams in the NCAAs is a possibility if SLU goes 1-1 next weekend.
For those who want to play around with this, paste the following at the bottom of the "scores" window (remember to tick the radio button as well as the check box for displaying PWR!) and edit as you like:

I'll root for whatever combination of wins and losses gets the largest number of ECACHL teams into the NCAA tourney.

Good call, Ben. I'll root the same way.
And if anyone knows how I can do some of that Australian rooting without paying for it, PM me.

I would like to see Clarkson end up in Rochester as one of the top seeds. If they are the runner-up it will depend on what goes on in some of the other conferences. A SLU vs. Clarkson final would be awesome so thats what I'm hoping for. That should make two solid teams in the NCAAs. Three would be good and all but it would probably result in sending at least two of the three out West.

Rooting for SLU and Q Saturday, so the ECAC can get 3 teams in the NCAA.

Clk, so they can get a good position in the NCAAs.

Appreciate the vote, Jim! Now Let's hope they do something with it.
Cheers!
