The behavior at Lynah is better than Cheel. One thing can be more wrong than another - just because they're both on the side of wrong does not make them equal.Rich S
Indeed posters here did refer to behavior at Lynah being better than that at Cheel before I posted on this thread.

Beej, it's not my job to remind you of your fans' behavior but it certainly is my right just as you see it as yours to make an issue of it at Cheel while you paint behavior at Lynah as far less offensive than it actually is.
Someday I hope to learn what color the sky is in your world.

If anyone would know bullshit Al, it's you. You've been resorting to it for years trashing Clarkson University's academics, its hockey program, players, coaches, and fans. Suggest you look in the mirror the next time you hand out that precious award.
Stating my opinions based on how I was treated in your arena and what I heard, as recently as last March is hardly a "knee jerk" reaction. Learn the difference, please.
As for what I post or posted on the Roundtable, I expressed my opinions there long ago about the tasteless behavior at Cheel. I'm sure you should remember your discourse on the penis model, eh?
Scott and others said all that needed to be said on that post. I'm not compelled to repeat it when most folks there know how I feel about it from prior threads. You have apparently conveniently forgotten it.
If this is so important to you, why don't you post some of your seemingly unlimited anti-Clarkson vitriol there? We miss it since you stopped.

Stating the same reactions to the same behavior on every single post is knee jerk.Rich S

"Looks like someone said something about Clarkson. Better mention March again. And since someone made a joke about Mark Morris bludgeoning his players I guess I should point out that Schafer yells. And since someone made a joke about Potsdam being boring, I better note that Ithaca isn't a cultural metropolis. And dammit, someone said that they didn't apply to Clarkson, so I'd better note that not only did I apply to Clarkson, it was my first choice!"
Your knee jerks so much it is a wonder that you manage to walk.

That would be nice.. For most current students its probably gray and cloudy.
Anyway, I think you're all fighting over nothing. Personally, I think that middle finger guy is so ridiculously over the top that I can't help but laugh.
I will also like to admit to the fact that some Cornell fans have, in the past, crossed the line (For example, the phone calls in the middle of the night). Many of us have tried to get that type of behavior removed, and its encouraging that some Clarkson fans do the same when some of their group crosses the line.

The problem with comparing behavior at Lynah and behavior at Cheel is that it's apples and oranges. Cornell fans are allowed to do whatever we want, because Cornell rocks, wooo. Clarkson, on the other hand, sucks.
No, seriously guys, you're quickly approaching the point the thread is no longer laughable and starts being just a pain. I'd shut up about it, except that every other thread here degenerates the same way. I don't know how you guys managed to grow up past 15 without learning how to ignore stupid trolling (and that goes for people on both sides here), but I think a lot of us here would appreciate it if y'all made another go at picking up that skill.
If you insist on keeping up the flamewars, at least take a hint from middle-finger-guy and make them so over the top that they're funny again. This halfassed flaming doesn't cut it. I'd like to see a Nazi comparison within five posts, followed by the "aha you Nazied!" followed by a defense, and subsequent subflamewar, over whether the comparison is valid.
And may I suggest you do all this in an AOL chatroom, where it belongs?

For the record, the supposed "cheers" that I clearly heard fom your Section O directed at Clarkson's Dustin Traylen more than once a few years ago make the above profanities seem tame. One lynah jerk even came around to yell it from Section O.
Rich, this is the closest you've gotten to actually saying something specific. When you constantly made vague generalizations, it's difficult to know what the hell you're talking about, let alone whether your points have merit or not.

Absolutely. I mostly feel sorry for the guy for believing he's clever. But it's still inappropriate and this punishment is just about right.

John,
On a number of occasions in the past I was VERY specific about examples of behavior I witnessed and heard. Of course, many of you rejected it out of hand perhaps because you don't like the messenger.
Fact is that there were plenty of witnesses to these instances, both the Clarkson fans who were often the objects of them plus some of the Lynah faithful near us who apparently thought the profanities and other tasteless comments, etc were hysterically funny.
I don't feel compelled to be as specific as in the above case when you guys are seemingly all aware that this stuff happens consistently, at least when Clarkson visits.
Maybe I'll try to take better notes this year if I get there.

More crappy video of our favorite Clarkson fan. His mother must be proud.

I *think* you can see Clarkson rink staff watching this episode, which clearly supports daredevil's statements regarding the fear of the ushers to enforce the stated policies.
However, it's possible those people standing in the back are just other fans.
I finally got around to watching that, and it's hilarious. It's kind of a shame if he got punished for that, since he was basically just being a jackass, and not threatening anybody. I mean, if CCT punishes visiting fans for flipping the bird, they should apply it to this guy too, but I'd be happy with them tolerating it from everybody. (If I'd been there, I would have laughed at the guy and mock-applauded him for being so clever.)

not to reopen an old arguement. but after that incident, the rink staff has cracked down on us significantly. It has lead to many fine upstanding citizens (like myself) to be warned, targeted by the ushers, and thrown out. Goalie Heckling nearly disappeered for several weekends...
so I guess I know how you guys feel now.

Its a shame when rink staff can't tell the difference between obscene and just not-nice. Seems typical though as a overreaction after possibly being too lax at first. It can be kept clean while still picking on the other team, which is what is should be.
Meanwhile, it seems the Lynah ushers chilled out this year (as usual)? Haven't heard any horror stories in a while.

I think it's a combination of both. It always seems to happen around the first games back from winter break.
