Wonder if any Cornell goaltenders besides McKee have been to the NHL without playing in a game. For instance Dave Elenbaas '73, who spent a half-dozen years in the AHL and several years had the lowest GAA.
I'm reasonably sure Jason Elliott spent some time on the Detroit bench in a similar situation. I think he was even their third goaltender during one of their Stanley Cup runs, but obviously never saw any ice time.
But he did get his name on the Cup and take it to Houston (he was with the Aeros in the IHL). I was hoping he'd take it to Chapman, Australia.

I'll bet you could have been there if you hadn't tragically lost your jump.

Hmmm - which is funnier? Beeeej with his name on the cup, or Beeeej as a playa'?

He got to do more than just get his name on it...

Are you sure Jason Elliott got his name on the Stanley Cup? I know he earned a day with it, but I thought that he did not qualify to have his name engraved on it.

Of course this comes two weeks after San Antonio visited Hartford. The way the AHL scheduling works, they'll probably be back in 2012.

That is correct. From [www.nhl.com]
[Q]To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, in 1994 a stipulation was added to allow a team to petition the Commissioner for permission to have players' names put on the Cup if extenuating circumstances prevented them from being available to play.[/Q]

A Swiss friend of mine e-mailed me that Knoepfli scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for Geneva over Fribourg.

That's probably what my friend was saying since he is a huge Fribourg fan.

Doug isn't playing. I wonder if he is hurt. Davidson and or Gorges (who was just called up) has been the 6th defensemen in the last few games.

Probably not, since that's what we used to sing in Bern when we played them.
I gratuliere to Knoepfli (sorry, Knöpfli) for the big goal.

Let the kid play!!

The Great One is annoying me. Lenny played decent in spots, not so good in a couple of instances, but he had a quick hook and didn't give the kid much of a chance before absolutely destroying him in the press. Nice move, Wayne, if you're trying to trade him. Way to leverage the situation, maximize his trade value and keep open the chance that he might be a useful player someday.
