Also an 8 pm start, Boston College is at Wisconsin, Schneider and Elliot in net.
0-0 at the end of the 1st.
Game is on TV, but I'm not paying too much attention to it.
Now 1-0 BC, 3 minutes into the second.
4-1 BC, 5:38 left in the 3rd. There was a fight in this game, helmets off and all. Betram (BC) v. Gionfreddi (sp, WI). I have the volume muted so I'm not sure what started it.
Final: 4-1 BC over Wisconsin.
0-0 at the end of the 1st.

Wow...go Yale! Combine that with the RPI and Clarkson splits, and it looks like we're getting some OOC help from our conference-mates this year. Maybe Sucks won't even suck at the Beanpot this year...

Ouch. Their website describes it as a "slow start," but the opponent "taking a 4-0 lead midway through the first" isn't a slow start in my book, it's a damn fast one -- just, in the wrong direction.
52 minutes of penalties earned 3 points for the kids and 1 for the Knights. I hope they enjoyed their decaminute of real hockey between what the refs, at least, seemed to think was a -fest. Our game also seemed to have a lot of penalties, though I haven't looked up the stat. As always, I find myself wondering if all these teams are just really chippy, or if the refs are trying to be scare everyone at the start of the season.

42 minutes of penalties handed out at our game last night. And I would wager on the latter.

While the U-18's are usually dominated by the Collegians, this year's U-18 squad has been more than holding its own (they also beat Michigan State among others). If nothing else, it bodes well for the future of U.S. Hockey.

the penalties were such bullshit all game... totally inconsistant. and we started our third string goalie who let it 3 extremely soft goals and one very soft goal in the first. so you can't really learn much about us from this game. the Techies just didn;t want to play it looked like.

Precisely. Clarkson didn't show up to play the ECAC Quarterfinals in 2004. In fact, neither did Cornell. I certainly don't remember a series taking place.Dpperk29

I've been entirely unimpressed with clarkson. Every time I've seen them play here it's the same undisciplined nonsense. I wish we didn't play into it as much as we do.
Note*
The point of this statement is that I don't anticipate any different this season.

Well of course not, that was the year that the ECAC had a full-season strike.

I think SHagwell was talking about that on the College Hockey Talk show that got linked here a while ago (the one with the interviews from ECAC Media Day). He said, for reasons that still escape me, that they wanted to have teams from outside come to the tournament as well. But considering that there are 6 ECAC teams plus Army, Niagara, Canisius, and RIT in New York, you'd think it wouldn't be too hard to have four NY teams in the Governor's Cup.

Dartmouth 3 UVM 2 Final
The game winning goal for RIP was scored by the son of the 1975 Cornell Captain, Dave Peace.
His son, Dan, is a junior who has had very little playing time over the past two years. He suited up last night for the first time this year and seemed to be all over the ice. He was almost hooking but not quite in a way that made the RIP crowd wince due to the unbelievable number of minors called in the game. The water (or maybe the watering holes) in Albany didn't sit well with Feola who called 26 minors and thereby frustrated most spectators.
Near the end of the first period some old fart who appeared to be a bald Cornell Alum yelled "We need more penalties" in mock disgust. But Feola got the last laugh and by the middle of the second period the cat calls asking for his referee credentials were more numerous than any cheers directed at the teams. At the end of the game there was a consensus that he had won an award, but due to my distast for 7 letter words I am not at liberty to announce it here.
The crowd was sparse though pumped by the mandatory inclusion of this off campus tournament's tickets in the season ticket package. These along with the first round ECAC tickets have boosted the price of full season tix to a whopping $200. The lady who sold me my section O tickets for RIP's December trip to Lynah was a bit surprised by the $18 price.
