Per Heisenberg, he committed in Sept. 2010, 3 years (maybe 4) before he'd start college. We've had guys decommit before. Plenty of time to change his mind.

In the AHL playoffs, the Western Conference final will feature a matchup between Ben Scrivens and the Toronto Marlies and Yann Danis and the Oklahoma City Barons. (Danis is backed up by David LeNeveu, but Danis has played every minute so far in the playoffs so a Cornellian vs. Cornellian goaltending matchup seems unlikely unless Danis gets injured, despite the fact that LeNeveu was almost as good as Danis during the regular season.) Both of their teams are packed with former NCAA players. Scrivens's teammates include Jerry D'Amigo (RPI), Matt Frattin (UND), Jake Gardiner (Wisconsin), Joe Colborne (Denver), Simon Gysbers and Will Acton (LSSU), and Jay Rosehill (UMD), while LeNeveu's include Mark Arcobello (Yale), Tyler Pitlick (Mankato), Chris Vande Velde and Taylor Chorney (UND), Tanner House (Maine), and Dan Ringwald (RIT).

In the Eastern Conference final, Raymond Sawada is now with the St. John's IceCaps (when did that happen?), who play the Norfolk Admirals. Sawada's teammates up in Newfie country incude Brock Trotter (Denver), John Albert and Jason DeSantis (Ohio State), Zach Redmond (Ferris State), Travis Ramsey (Maine), Marco Rosa (Merrimack), and Kevin Clark (UAA). Their opponents will include Alex Killorn (Harvard), Trevor Smith (UNH), Cory Conacher (Canisius), Mike Kostka (UMass), Evan Oberg (UMD), and Jeff Dimmen (Maine). So, while no Cornellians are still activin the NHL playoffs, the odds are good that one will lift the Calder Cup. Both series start tonight, by the way. Just remember to root against Norfolk because Harvard sucks.

As for the lower minors and Europe, I don't have time to look into them, though I do remember reading a few weeks ago that the Abbotts' Swedish team had the best record in the regular season but an early exit from the SEL playoffs, and that Cam missed the whole season due to injury. As this stick is 25 years old and likely the last of its kind, all that matters is the price I'm willing to part for it with. If most people don't want to what I'm after or agree on the stick's value, I have no problem with their opinion. This stick could only truly be appreciated by an avid Joe collector.

Why would this be true? Not that I think you're serious about suicide but... why would Cornell fans even be bothered by Colgate making the Final Four?

 

Colgate in hockey and lacrosse had one outstanding player (Austin Smith hockey, Peter Baum lacrosse) who, had he scrolled five colleges further in the dropdown list for the common app and not stopped at C-O-L, would be in Ithaca. As sure as God made journalists with modest skills, someone is going to start off a story, "In most years, you can almost pencil in an upstate New York School as an odds-on favorite to have a 50-50 chance of making the final four, either Syracuse or that red school starting with C-O. Now it's happening again but it's not Cornell." I want to cry, once for the profession, once for Cornell. Still, I'll root for Colgate, as I did for Yale (what a letdown after Ivy Tournament week), Princeton (almost pulled it off), and Lehigh (couldn't hold that lead).

Credible job by Princeton and a nice shot with 5 seconds left that would have tied the game. Yale seemed to revert to the norm after its super Ivy tournament weekend. So their seasons lasted a week more than ours. Now, root for Colgate. Or Lehigh, which is up 8-6 on Maryland in the third.
